Were they 10 miles away?

I did it once, he was 50 miles away.

I know one was and another wasn't.  Can't remember if I did it a third time, but I think I did and he was 10.

I'm D3 with a prestige in the A- to A+ range. I've pulled down D2 players outside of 70 miles--often up to 300-350 miles, and one time I pulled down a player from Alaska 2000+ miles away (Ryan Stephan, on my current team). So it can definitely be done.

You spent $7,000+ pulling him down?

I did--it was the best, and luckiest recruiting period I've ever had. I had a little cash left over from the previous season, a good haul from the conference's postseason performance, and then had 4 schollies to fill.  The other 3 went really well and I had about $9k left.  I figured "what the $$*&%" let's give it a shot, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pretty anxious waiting to see if the pull-down was successful.

"On  a side note, I am still trying to pull down a DI player at NYU (DIII)."

I've done it on more than one occasion.
in the current model of the game? according to game admins, this is not supposed to be possible - but i also havent played d3 in years, not since seble's new engine, so i havent a damn clue if its true. i know d1 players were pulled to d3 in the olden days but i thought it wasnt supposed to be possible now...

Johnson and Wales

Both Marc Tolley and Chester Tarter were pulled down from D1 in the same recruiting period, so it is definitely possible. Both were less than 70 miles away (don't remember exactly, but they weren't both 10 miles away either). This roster will reset tonight, so they won't be there soon. I think it took just slightly more than the normal number of SVs I use for D2 players.

I've also pulled down a player from Alaska (to PA). And it was totally worth it, although I would've been screwed if anyone fought me for him.

Unquestionably possible.

I have 2 D1 players on a current D3 roster.  One is a bum and may be refilling gatorade bottles and passing out towels as a senior.

wow. thats pretty crazy, it never ceases to amaze me how rarely what the game admins claim about dropdowns/pulldowns is true... not playing d3 forever, i took them on their word. now im starting to understand some of those insane d3 rosters people have posted... although im no less embarrassed to admit how much better some of them were than my own d2 teams :)

wow--i had no idea pulling down a D1 player to D3 was possible. Never even considered it. For those who have successfully done this, was there a clear difference in pulling down a D1 player vs D2 player in terms of # of scouting trips, etc.?

goose - carl ahrens on my mbbc team was initially d1, then he dropped to d2.  I think he was 10-30 miles away.  Once he dropped I was a backup, then I pulled him down.  Funny thing is his scouting report changed from being a d1 contributor before I got him to a d2 all-american when i pulled him down!  He's good, but not even close to being a d2 all-american. i've never pulled down directly from the d1 screen.

I've pulled guys straight from the D1 screen.  I haven't noticed a difference in the amount of scouting trips, but it's such a small sample size that I can't say for certain.
