I have done this to another coach and got a similar, but  less profane email back.  Someone put it to me this way...  It's not only your job to recruit the best players on your team, but also to make other coaches have to work and spend money to get and keep theirs.

I have been jumped several times both in HD and GD on the last cycle and have lost guys.  Does it suck? Yes.  Is it something you should plan for?  Absolutely.  Save your money and set your alarm....

Wow, This guy is a a little off in his perspective.  I don't think part of your job as the coach of Butler or Marshall is to make sure that another school has a good recruiting class.  Why should you care about his battle with Indiana. Second he initiated a battle with Indiana for a player that was considering Indiana already.  He is asserting that he gets to decide which cycles that is ok to do that.  Should we all check with him before make a move.  He had 4 man money, 4 guys considering him and intitated a battle with a five star.  He may as well of said my other guys are available.  And the recruit "wrapped up" comment is meaningless.  What defines wrapped up or again does he get to decide those parameters and we should ask him before we make a move.  Wrapped up, I signed a guy for $1400 this season, I signed a guy for 66,000 three seasons ago wonder when he would decide when these guys were wrapped up.  The bottom line is, to me, everyone is available until they sign.  Why does being considered by a player first give you an unalienable right to him.  Btw, I've lost out on many players after being considered first.  One season I lost all three recruits in the last two cycles before signing.  Its a game, I moved on.

If this dude hasn't had people go after recruits in the last cycle before, he must not have had anyone worth a damn considering him.

seetheelk lol.  Recruiting battles are apart of the game, whether they take place in the first or last cycle of recruiting.  If you have to rely on soft "gentlemens' agreements" and unwritten rules to recruit well, then you're in bigger trouble than we all thought.  When something like this happens, learn the lesson and don't get "duped" again.
