Got two good AL teams, will have a couple good bats on bench for DH, so might as well go AL ...
Declared AL a few posts ago for my Oakland A's- NYY's combo ... I'll keep 78 NYY's, but change to 72A's (forgot that both Cepeda and Horlen finished their careers with 72A's) ...

For anybody interested in combining Rawly Eastwick in a combo, I knew him best with the 75-77 Reds machine, but he also played for 78 NYY's and the 78-79 Phillies ... And Pete Rose played for the 75-77 Reds and 79 Phillies ... Some good players with both Reds (Morgan, Griffey, Sr., Foster, Rose, Bench, Driessen, Geronimo, Concepcion) and Phillies (Rose, Schmidt, Luzinski, Harrelson) teams and awesome starting aces with Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton, Gary Nolan ...

For anybody interested in combining Reggie Jackson and Tommy John- they both played with late 70's NYY's and early 80's Angels (Ron Guidry, Luis Tiant, Catfish Hunter, Thurman Munson, Rod Carew, Willie Randolph, Bobby Grich, Doug DeCinces, Fred Lyn, Roy White, Bobby Murcer)

Another possibility is a Garciaparra-Maddux combo (they both played for the Cubs in 2004 (Aramis Rodriguez, Moises Alou, Derrek Lee, SP Carlos Zambrano) and the Dodgers in 2008 (Manny Ramirez, Rafael Furcal, Russell Martin, Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, Juan Pierre, Andrew Jones, SP's Chad Billingsley and Derek Lowe)

But if you prefer the late 90's Braves (SP's Smoltz, Glavine, Neagle and Millwood; PP's Lofton, Blauser, Chipper, Lopez, McGriff) mixed with the 2008 Dodgers (see above) , you can always try Greg Maddux- Andrew Jones

Also available is a Gaylord Perry-Graig Nettles combo (72 Indians-80 NYY's). SP's Guidry, John, Tiant and PP's Fosse, Randolph, R. Jackson, Murcer, Piniella, and Gamble

The well traveled Kenny Lofton also played with Greg Maddux for the 97 Braves and the 08 Dodgers; SP's Derek Lowe, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Denny Neagle, Kevin Millwood and PP's Javy Lopez, Russell Martin, Fred McGriff, Jeff Kent, Rafael Furcal,  Chipper Jones, Nomar Garciaparra, Manny Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Ande Ethier, Juan Pierre Ryan Klesko and Andruw Jones

Frank Robinson and Pete Richert played also played together, first with the 67-71 Orioles and 72 Dodgers (SP's Sutton, Palmer, Mike Cuellar, Osteen, John, Dave McNally and PP's Dietz, Yeager, Hendricks, Etchevarren, Powell, Parker, DJohnson, Belanger, Wills, BRobinson, Mota, Buford)

A couple of my youth's heroes played with the 66-71 Orioles and the 75 Indians: Frank Robinson and Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooog Powell. SP's: Gaylord Perry, Jim Palmer, Mike Cuellar, Fritz Peterson, Dave McNally and SP/RP Dennis Eckersley. PP's include Hendricks, Etchebarren, Davey Johnson, BRobinson, Bobby Grich, Don Buford, Oscar Gamble, Paul Blair

For 70's fans, Jim Kaat and Bucky Dent played together with the 73-75 White Sox and the 1979 NYY's. SP's: Guidry, Tiant, Wood, John, Hunter, Osteen, Figueroa. PP's include Munson, Allen, Randolph, Santo, Nettles, Jackson, Murcer, White, Gamble, Piniella, Pat Kelly, Ken Henderson ...
