Three pages in, and none of us current owners have mentioned a rule that kallison put in that really helps out: As long as it is before the current season, you skip IR seasons for your players. As an example, I drafted Jim Palmer in his rookie season of 1965 (league play began in 1961). In 1968, Palmer missed a season, thus he was on IR that season. Now, we'll be restarting in 1910/1974, and Palmer reverts to his 1965 rookie season. When what would be his 1968 season rolls around, he would skip the missing season, and go to 1969. It really helps out. And having played in a number of progressives, I've maybe seen it in only one other league.

All the more reason to join us.

Dannino is a Very Good and Valued Owner. You will Find that This League will be Very tuff(NO Slackers)... Because all of the Owners Play Very Very Hard all of the time...
Lot's of Trades and Love for this League...

You won't be Disappointed if you Join this League...

NOTE :
OUR CURRENT SEASON WON'T END UNTIL 8/27... BUT, the Draft will Take 20 Day's to Have... So that being Said, as Soon as we fill up. It won't be Long before we can Start the Draft... With Drafting 1 Round each day...
YOU WILL STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO RESEARCH THE LEAGUE AND PLAYERS...

Do I understand correctly that the draft for 1910/1974 will be random order for all 24 teams (existing and new ?
YES, That is Correct... But the Random Order will be for this 1910/74 Season Only...

I will Assign the Lowest Numbers to all New owners, Followed by the existing owners...

I will also get someone Outside of the League to Run the Lottery for US...

You answered my major concern. Since existing owners get to keep 20 1974 players, who all revert to their rookie seasons,it seemed unfair for existing owners to get an equal chance with new owners on 1910 players. I assume new owners would get the first 10 picks in the first round, followed by the existing owners, followed by the second 10 picks for the new owners. Second round would be serpentine etc.
I think this is more what your Looking for :

I will make 2 new divisions and put all the New Teams in those 2 Divisions, Then the new teams are competing against each other, giving them a fair chance to make the Playoffs in season 1 and Beyond. In fact 2 New teams would be guaranteed to go to the Playoffs every year. That should help make for an incentive to fill these Last three spots and to Join this League. This also would Overcome all Existing Teams keeping 20 Players. Would you Agree that this should make things more Equal or Fair?

After further reflection I will bow out of this league. 280 players (20 times 14, presumably most of the good 1974 players) are owned by existing teams, and the list of 1974 owned players includes names like Yogi Berra, Del Crandall, Smoky Burgess etc. who retired way before the 1970's as well.

I think the new teams will have too tough a time to catch up since the 280 owned player will mostly be at the start of their career plus the existing teams will get 14 picks in each round compared to 20 for the new teams(2 each).

Sorry to bow out at this point but I didn't fully think through the drafting process versus retained players.

Well, I'm sorry to Hear That Dave...

Our League Started with 1961 Season... Anyone in the data base was Reverted back to there Rookie Seasons. We are now in Season 14. This isn't a Brand New League and we are Looking to Expand...

Only 4 More Spots Open in the League...

Who will Come and Join the Fun...

So all players active from 1961 through 1974 reverted back to their rookie season, is that correct ? (that explains Berra, Burgess, Crandall etc.)

That's Why This League is Special...

We will have Players from 1938 (Enos Slaughter) was our Oldest Player... Other Players going all the way to 1974... That's Just from Our Start in Season #1 or 1961 Database...

Now we are Adding 1910 Players... When they are Reverted back to there Rookie Season...
That brings Players from the Late 1890's all the way up to 1910 Season now...

This Diversity of Different Players Years Should Help the League Winners to also Be Competive in the Tournament Of Champions...

Uselly Progressive League Champions cannot Win games in the Tournament of Champions. They are always Beaten in the 1st Round or 2nd Round if they were Lucky enouth to Win in Rd#1...

I don't think People Grasp the Benfits of this League. They become so Blinded by the Fact that Exsisting Teams have 20 Keepers.
You Just Need to Keep an Open Mind...

Dave, one thing to consider: the 8 teams being added will make up 2 new divisions. That means all the new teams will be competing against each other and 2 new teams are guaranteed to win their division. If you don't make the Playoffs your first year, you will have no one to blame but yourself. True, it may take a few years to have as good a team as some of the veteran teams, but at least you will be competitive within your division, and once the Playoffs start, anything can happen.

Not only that, but not all of those 20 keepers have spectacular rookie seasons. I have Brooks Robinson (135 PA/.239 BA/2 HR/14 RBI in 1957), Ralph Garr (102/.281/0/8/5 SB in 1970), and Jim Palmer (92 IP/3.72 ERA/.229 OAV/1.42 WHIP/0.59 HR/9 in 1965). Many other owners are in the same situation with key players. And I have players like Moe Drabowsky, who isn't worth much in the middle of his career. It all equals out--well, except for the fact that my division is so tough, the other three owners have each won the division at least twice, and at least one World Series victory! I'm currently seven games behind firesalt, with the fourth-best (?) record in the league! In the inaugural season, I won 117--and lost out to firesalt and his 119 wins!!!!!!

And a LOT of those rookies being added in aren't going to set the league on fire immediately, either.

Good and fun league with a strong group of owners and a dedicated commissioner.
The new "twist" is going to make it even more challenging and intriguing, and also give the new teams an ability to compete from the get go.
