Also, there is no such thing as "rushing" a player to the big leagues in this game. We're dealing with little fake people. They don't have feelings or emotions and their confidence doesn't get destroyed if they struggle. It's a computer simulation with numbers and probabilities.

As far as the development, they develop just fine in the big leagues. Actually they develop slightly better because they are with the best coaches in your organization.

I guess if people want to know the truth, they will have to use trial and error like most. Take a prospect that has center fielder ratings and put him at 1b his first four pro years. I won't do it because I am afraid I might be right. Others are welcome to try it -maybe it is as simple as playing time and your fielding coach.

Nonetheless, I will stand down on the bulletin board. I don't like getting into a tif on this board.

I'm not trying to discourage you from posting and helping. Owners like you are good for the game. We need more enthusiastic players in the game. Im not always very good at saying things nicely. My wife reminds me of that daily.

My thought is only that players need playing time to develop. Coaching factor may be somewhat overrated because we don't have enough sample of owners who send all their prospects immediately where their best coaches are. We probably do have enough sample - absentee owners, dead in the water teams - to show that poor coaches and management will hinder development.

The concept of "rushing" might come from the fact that young players playing at a level appropriate to their ratings often struggle with production at first. But it makes sense because when we do this we're putting a player at a level higher than where he can dominate. I only once ever put a 21 year old player in the bigs, and it was because he was the best player available to me. He was ready, and he was better than anything else I had, and he was better than any free agent I could have signed. And he developed fine, highest rated position player I've ever had.

There is alot of info in this thread that is not correct. Take it all with a grain of salt.

It is good to get different opinions but not everything every says is correct. Even from me.

In order of importance: Playing time > makeup >> level = coaching. I personally never rush prospects because my AAA teams are always full of AAAA guys there for insurance purposes and I want to space out my actual prospects so they all get as much playing time as they can. I don't see a lot of difference in outcomes between an 80 coach and a 60 coach (exc: FI), so I'm dubious that there's a measurable difference over time from premature promotions. I *definitely* don't recommend developing prospects at the big league level and starting their arb clock early unless he's the magic guy that's going to get you a ML playoff spot.
