Also please explain this Dems voting against sanctions. I’m unaware. Was it majority of Dems or squad and what countries were involved.
I don’t know about this.

Democrats blocked a bid to bring the Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act up for consideration in a 217-209 vote along party lines. The bill, introduced by Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., would impose sanctions on foreign entities known to have provided financial assistance to Hamas, among other measures.

"Under my bill the United States will sanction these groups that are supporting terrorism," Mast said in a floor speech in support of the legislation. "Or if we do not pass this bill, we will not stand together to sanction these groups that are enabling this terrorism."

Mast was reintroducing the bill, which had passed the House unanimously in 2019 but was not taken up for a vote in the Senate.

Still, there’s some evidence that Democrats who took this stance, opposing sanctions against Hamas supporters, are simply listening to their base. A new Trafalgar Group survey indicates that 38.5 percent of self-identified Democrats blame Israel for the current violence, 15.5 percent blame Hamas, about 6 percent each blame Iran and the Palestinian Authority, and 34.4 percent aren’t sure.

Meanwhile, 12.5 percent of self-identified Republicans blame Israel for the current violence, 42.5 percent blame Hamas, 14.6 percent blame Iran, 10.5 percent blame the Palestinian Authority, and 19.8 percent aren’t sure.

dino, like it or not...the Democrats have turned on Israel and the Jews...not just the whacko far left like tangplay.
It is not the majority but it is a truly sickening significant amount.
but there is probably a high number of republicans who are anti Israel. My guess is 15%.....actually that’s correct I did not see next paragraph. Huge numbers against Israel from republicans too but way worse from Dems.

you can chime in now about Israel.
it is never too late.

I will read about that bill.

House Democrats Vote Against Hamas Sanctions

Vote comes as Hamas rains rockets down on Israeli civilians

Adam Kredo • May 18, 2021 5:30 pm

House Democrats overwhelmingly voted on Tuesday afternoon against applying sanctions on Hamas, the Iranian-backed terror group that has fired thousands of missiles at Israel during the past two weeks amid a deepening regional conflict.

In a 217-209 vote, Democrats rejected a bid by House Republicans to hold a vote on Hamas sanctions legislation authored by Rep. Brian Mast (R., Fla.). The bill was supported by every House Democrat in the last Congress, but stalled this time around when Democratic members refused to allow the bill to be considered by the legislative body. Republicans wanted to pass the legislation to further express support for Israel as it fights the terror group.

As the conflict in Israel continues into its second week, many Democratic lawmakers on the party’s left flank have publicly criticized the Jewish state, with some describing its defensive operations as terrorist acts. Progressive lawmakers such as Reps. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.), and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D., N.Y.) have called for cutting U.S. military aid to Israel and sanctioning the country. They have not condemned Hamas’s strikes on the country or the terror group's use of civilian shields in the Gaza Strip.

"Hamas preaches the destruction of Israel and death to everything we hold dear in the United States. The recent attacks again show why we must cut off their financial support," Rep. Mast said. "But today House Democrats backtracked on their previous support for this bill, and in doing so sent a clear message to the world that they stand with Radical Islamic terrorists like Hamas instead of with our ally Israel."

The legislation was brought to the floor for a vote under a parliamentary procedure known as the "previous question," which is used to end debate on a topic and proceed to an immediate vote. The bill would apply sanctions on any foreign persons, agencies, and governments that assist Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group, or their affiliates. Both terror groups are primarily armed and funded by the Iranian government.

"Today every member in the House will have a choice between siding with our ally or siding with a status quo that will only perpetuate the unrest," Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), the chamber’s minority leader, said in a statement ahead of the vote. "Support for Israel should remain a proud, bipartisan, but most of all, clear policy principle in Congress. As our greatest ally in the Middle East faces the most intense siege in 7 years, the House should make it clear to the world that we stand united in support of Israel."

I want to know why the Dems voted against this.
but I will say that as a voter I’m paying very close attention to how my representatives and the party handles financial aid to Israel and individual bills.

im looking into this bill.

Of course the above poll was about - the current violence - and not about Israel in general.
there is the bad press about the 4-5 houses being snatched which is portrayed as hundreds of homes.
and most people don’t even know it is actually in litigation.

Bob came out anti Israel just so you know.
He thinks Israel took Palestinian land- does not support the partition and thinks the Palestinians are like the American Indians.
he definitely does not support Israel.
sad but true.

Copied from the interweb - these are the peace goals of Hamas concerning Israel:

The stated goal of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad is to conquer Israel and replace it with an Islamist state. Both groups reject the Oslo Accords and other plans for peace with Israel. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the two groups worked together to derail the peace process by attacking Israeli civilians.

That is correct.
the reason the West Bank and Gaza are occupied is because the Palestinians declared war against Israel and they lost and never agreed to peace and a truce and were occupied by Israel in self defense.

they have never agreed to the UN partition and peace and their own sovereign state.

another inconvenient fact. After the despicable 1948 war on Israel Jordan took over East Jerusulam and made the Palestinians there Jordanians.
Israel captured it from JORDAN in 1967.
it has been offered to the Palestinians by Israel as their capitol time and again.

If you think that because I am Jewish I have to defend Israel, then you are anti-semitic.

This is a Nazi talking point. Saying "Israel did a bad thing" is NOT equivalent to saying "Jews are bad." NAZIS AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS, CCCP.

I feel like I'm the only pro Jewish person here. Of course, you think all Jews who voted for Biden are traitors. So maybe you should stfu.

I clearly live rent-free in your head. You have no idea what you are talking about.
