That's fine but you can easily take our roll call numbers (1-20) and use a random number sequence generator online to handle the hat.

Guidance for new owners:

I started my research with 1975 and the Red Sox were on top. This brought up a great example of roster inflexibility. Although the Red Sox load 24 players into the draft center, one is ineligible because he's only listed as UTIL - Cecil Cooper. It doesn't matter that he played some 1B that season, because he's a UTIL in the Draft Center and that's what counts.

You won't find 412K backup 3B Bob Heise or 499K OF Rick Miller in there either, or any of the Combined seasons (only Full/Partial get loaded). All their hitters cost at least $1M, which is something worth looking at when you draft since it's nice to have some cheap backups. You have only 13 Boston hitters available and 10 pitchers.

Keep in mind that you need to look at who's actually available to you and not just search for all the players who have sim-eligible seasons. You'd find 20 Red Sox hitters if you just did a team search, but only 13 are actually usable in this league. Granted, the Sox have plenty of studs and will be a solid pick for someone, I'm sure. But with some of the less talented teams, these limitations can be very helpful in handing your neighbor an inflexible roster that really makes them pay.

WIS has the 1945 Phillies listed as the Blue Jays. I assume we are using them despite MANY standings retaining the term Phillies for that season. If anyone disagrees, please tell me.

Yes - 1945 Blue Jays are available.

Weird that they changed the name fir just that one season.

3/3/2023 3:25 PM
Yes - what redcped said.

Every time we do this, people look up their rosters the wrong way and it messes up their team.

Please reread thia and if you don't understand it, please ask questions.

It's actually the easiest way to do it anyway.

VERY IMPORTANT! We all have to be looking at the same information to make this league work. When you pick a team, you have to know who you get. Here's the only league approved way to do it. Look at a blank draft center page. See where it says 2015 Anaheim Angels? You can switch that to any team and any year. That's the only officially approved way to see who you get on your team. This is very important because there are two wrong ways to do it and people do it the wrong way every time and they make decisions thinking they have players they don't in fact have. One wrong way to do it is to go to baseball-reference.com nd look at the 1955 Dodgers. That will give you a different set of players than the approved method. The other wrong way id to go to a blank WIS draft center page and click on a blank SP/RP spot and ask to see the 1955 Dodgers pitchers. That will give you a wrong group of players also. Let's do an experiment. Ask WIS to call up the 1955 Dodgers the correct way by changing the 2015 Anaheim Angels to the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. Notice you get 12 pitchers. Now let's do it the wrong way. Go to a blank screen, pick an empty pitcher spot and ask to see the 1955 Dodger pitchers. Oops. There are 13 of them. Joe Black appears with 124 innings. If you do the roster the wrong way, you will think you have Joe Black for 124 innings when he is in fact not eligible. This is very important to get this right as people do it wrong every time.

I'm going to wait until Saturday night at 11:59 pm.

At that point, denny will get the final spot.

Hopefully everything is okay with reddtrain. When someone disappears from the site you always hope it's not a health concern.

1943 Ruly Carpenter and his dad (his mother was a DuPont) bought the Phillies (owners till 1981).They wanted a symbol for uniforms and other items. They had a contest. Blue Jays we’re the winners. 7 Fans who submitted that got season tickets. New uniforms 2 years later and the Blue Jay disappeared.

I asked ermocito to do one of them new fangled random order things. This is what he came up with.

I will translate it into draft order and divisions later today.

Ermo sent the following...

This was the first one. Whoever was 10 on your roll list drafts first, 13 goes next, etc.
I assume 10 13 20 17 is one division but if there is a reason to align differently just swap draft position when you swap divi.

Looking at that 1945 season, and boy the AL was like a deadball league. One hitter topped 18 homers in the entire league! (The NL had a whopping 5 above 20, glorious by comparison.) Only 14 AL hitters were even in double digits. Three teams had totals of 22, 27, and 33.

Just saying we won't find much offensive help there.

Oh crap! I'm last.

I don't know where the best place to draft in this league is.

You can make an argument for first, last or middle.

I was first last time and hated it.
