With the World Baseball Classic about two weeks away, I would like to start signups for a league designed after the WBC. It'll be a standard 24 team league, with divisions aligned based on geography, era and competitiveness (similar to the actual WBC). It will be a $120-$140 mil salary cap (still deciding), universal DH, no WW, clones or AAA. 1930-present. Each team chosen will be exclusive, however there can be more than 1 team per country, based on the following parameters:
United States: any 3 year period (ie United States 2023-2025)- like the real WBC
Dominican Republic: any 6 year period (ie DR 2017-2023)
Venezuela: any 10 year period (Venezuela 2010-2020)
Every other team can use anybody born in their country in the WIS database for roster construction.
Based on my research, these restrictions will level the playing field and ensure each team in the league will be competitive. There will likely be about 12-14 US teams, and about 10-12 international teams. Division alignment will ensure each team has a chance to win, while also simulating a real WBC.
Please claim your team in the forum. I will claim my team about halfway through and then provide a league number.
I've done some research into it for Canada
but it looks like 31 players at a total of $150 million
Don't know how many positions your league would have for each team.
And of those positions, I don't know how many are bench positions.
donaldjtrump put together a complete Canada team at about $131.5M. He ended up switching to a US team, but creating a Canada team can be done. Not sure what the quality of that team was (you'd have to ask him, he's in this thread), but I know creating a Canada team is an option.
Seems like the biggest issue with that roster is the starting pitching, but you do get elite bullpen options in Fergie Jenkins and Eric Gagne to help mitigate the lack of quality starting pitching
