Even if you have mentioned it; the fact bears repeating: Manny Fernandez is a horrible goalie.

do they have a compelling reason NOT to play Thomas in every game?

SAK basically said it. The Bruins are still the #1 seed. No need to change things up. However, I wish it was Rask sharing time instead of Manny.

I said it before the deadline, Fernandez should have been traded, even if it was for three used water bottles, two practice pucks and a clutch to a 1963 Zamboni; and Rask should have been moved up. That display in New York on Sunday made Tim Thomas look like a textbook for goalie technique.

If nobody wanted to trade for him though, it doesn't matter how much you want to get rid of him.

Then you waive him, lots of teams took that route just before deadline. I'm not convinced, however, that Chiarelli shopped Manny all that hard. Didn't want to mess with chemistry too much, hence the small tweaks that did take place that didn't have any subtraction from lineup of any significance.

They went through this same stretch last year at this time where they struggled to score, but nobody expected them to go that far anyway. This year I wouldn't be surprised to see Julien get fired, the deals at the deadline didn't do the trick, it's either that or lose in the first round to Florida, and this whole season goes to waste.

Julien is one of the front-runners for the Adams award. There is ZERO chance he will be fired. Plus, I don't know how you can tell that the deadline deals didn't work after a handful of games.

They were red-hot for 4 months....they've come back to Earth. Despite this recent putrid stretch, they STILL have a 6-point lead over the Devils in the Eastern Conference, and 16 points over Montreal in the Division. I'd rather see them slump now, while there's still a month in the season to right the ship, instead of having them cruise until April, then slump.

Also, it's not like they played that bad the past two games. If Thomas is in net, they probably beat the Rangers. Tonight's game in Columbus could have easily gone the Bruins way.

Maybe in retrospect Im overreacting, but that lead over the Devils includes NJ having two games in hand so that lead could be down to 2. I agree Julien is an Adams candidate, but its not like this hasn't happened to him before, with New Jersey and Montreal. The reason they didn't beat the rangers was because he decided to play Fernandez. I'm just concerned that this will continue into the playoffs, and the Bruins will make another early exit. But, this whole thing could get turned around with Ottawa and the Islanders coming to the Garden. That could propel them into another hot streak, and back to the way they were playing in Nov. and Dec.
