BREAKING NEWS!!

Its no secret that the Kingston Crooks got 1st pick overall in the recent rookie draft. With their pick, they selected a rough and tough player whose name was listed as being Dallas Pirtonen. Shortly after signing him though, a controversial turn of events unfolded.

Apparently Dallas Pirtonen was not his real name. It was a fake named used to fool the MLD Commissioner who would no doubt not allow the athlete to be drafted had his real name been known. He is actually the son of a former MLD player and legend. His father, during his playing days within the MLD, was one of the nastiest players to ever take to the ice.

Just who is he??? Well his name change was just made official about an hour ago and well....... here he is.

Hey rammers! I was just looking at Season 13 numbers and I think shutouts are down. This is the first season post big goalie retirements. Care to run the goals per game numbers as you do periodically?

Well, in terms of raw goals per game .3 is not a lot.

But 4.36 goals per game last season, that means after 636 games last season we would have been somewhere around 2773 goals. So something like 180 more goals have been scored this season to this point. And that + 7.1% jumps out nicely.

12/4/2008 2:20 PM
Yeah +7.1% is nice and I have a feeling we usually see more goals in 2nd half of our seasons...should be interesting to wait for the 82 games stats.

I wonder what is causing the increase in goals this season..... the new goalie rules OR horrible season that the Double O are having.
12/9/2008 4:45 PM
I dunno, all I know is that I've got three 20 goal scorers for the first time since around Season 2.....and that corbs has got a hard-on for one of them
12/9/2008 10:28 PM
Well it's true the OO's are letting in lots of goals... but historically there has always seemed to be one MLD team that's a low outlier on the GAA list. And it's not like all the teams in the POW conference have scored lots more than the CC.

I think we've just had a natural progression to where some of the stud goalies and especially stud d-men have retired.

12/10/2008 7:19 AM
But when you look closer, the OO have been REALLY letting in alot of goals this season.

Here in season 13, at the 66 games mark, The Double O have allowed a whopping 373 goals!! And still 16 games to go!!

To find a bottom dweller team(s) that have had similar GA, you gotta all the way back to the early MLD Days. Season 3 and earlier. aka The MLD's "Offensive Era"

Season 3 (after 82 games played)
Kandahar Cay 368 GA
Hernando HitMen 375 GA

Season 2: 6 teams allowed 375GA or more

Either way, its safe to say the MLD Alltime record for GA in a single season is safe.......Gotham(under previous ownership) allowed a mind blowing 805GA back in season 1. But........... their record for fewest points in a regular season, 13 points in season 1, could be broken if the Double O can't scrape together 5 points in these last 12 games.

Hey, they gotta protect that first draft pick, y'know.

12/10/2008 4:49 PM
Here's a little useless fact concerning scoring, my current FP had his highest point total since since season 1.
