Friday nights are usually a ton or none for me as far as poker goes. Depends pretty exclusively on if the wife feels like drinking with me.

Whats my move?

The Villian has not made a habbit of this big of a preflop raise. But has been active in pots but nothing big. This is also a 2-7 table where you win $3 if you win with 2-7.

Originaly I was thinking I would call here and then raise him again after the river, however after I look at it a little I think I would have to raise again here.

Unless I think he has AA its going to be hard to get away from this hand. THere are a few cards that would cause a problem on the river for you though like an A,3,6,7. I would guess he has overcards, maybe an over pair. The fact that there is a bonus for winning with 72 could also put him on a steal with that prflop but his post flop play makes me think that is not what he has.

finsihed 50something and won 28+ for a 4 dollar profit between the two doubles

Considering we both played at the Bad beat .50/$1 table and played tournament BJ I think we could use the contest.

TM and Bret, How did the cashout tourney go? Im curious to win you think its a good idea to cash chips out. I played in one on Sunday but never really got anything going to have any choices.

I ended up dropping that as the last one I played in I was up until 2:30a and only made about $5. If I didn't have so much going on today, I would've played but today is going to be rough enough as it is.

To answer your question, I'm not sure when a good time is. I was up to about $65 at one point...I think there were about 55 people at that poing and I was sitting about 17th or so. Had I cashed out at that point I would've had that plus another $5-6 for going out in 55th. I decided to stick it out and ended up finishing 20-something for around $8.

I do know now that I am more BR concious, should I end up in a spot like that again, I would have no trouble walking away to ensure I continue to build instead of hoping for that run to get me to the next tier because honestly I would much rather have the $75 now as opposed to saying I made the final 18 or whatever out of 900 people. $$$$ is king now not just finishing spot. Now, this could all change in a week, but that is my mindset for now especially with the MiniFTOPS coming up next month, I would to try and sat. into as many of those as possible so I want to build the BR as much as I can before it starts.

holy **** is this a long-winded post.

If you got off to a crazy good start in a cashout, I guess it would make sense to cash out the buy-in before the bubble if it still you well above average in chips.

Hand above I shoved thinking I was ahead. He insta called with A3 and I stacked him. I wish now I just called cause the ace hit on turn and I could of folded. But that's result orientated.

Anyone try to keep pot small or reraise preflop?
11/20/2009 8:56 AM
Looking back on it I checkraised the flop and he mini raised me back. That's a sign of stregnth often too. For most part I think it's just a cooler hand but trying to think it all the way through.
11/20/2009 8:59 AM
Nah, the shove is profitable over time there, I'm convinced. I would have hurried to get a note on that guy (opened 5x from button w/ A3) before I went off to steam a little.
11/20/2009 9:03 AM
Yeah, the min-re-raise was troubling, but I still would have felt like AK, AQ, QQ, JJ, TT made up a large part of his range.
