I thought all three presented some very good options when offense was taken into account. The 77 Reds probably had the best lineup (by salary and also considering defense), and with Mota being able to start in the exhibition games the Dodgers were not far behind, and in Sutton's best year had a great R/L closer combo in Ray and Brewer, both of whom seem to sim quite well. Carlton's 80/81 Phillies came with Schmidt's best two seasons, which would be rather helpful also. I figured Maddux was a no-brainer to go first, but after that a case could have been made for most of them. Gaylord offered some scary-good offensive teams in the exhibition format — the 74 Indians had a $44M offense, and were actually much stronger than that with their top three hitters all under 120 PA and $1M in that season but worth much more in this game.
