Didn't the Kings draft Whiteside? Better player in SIM, but became a serviceable big after they got rid of him.
They did but if the player doesn’t do anything until years after you picked him and another franchise rehabilitates him, I’m not giving you credit.

Oh, I wasn't saying it should count for them. They got rid of him without taking time to develop him. To clarify, I'm saying it points more towards their ineptitude.

OFF TOPIC - REASONS FOR DRAFTING MOOKIE:

1 - Name is MOOKIE
2 - Goes great with CHUCK
3 - Hope Ash finds a Gif of the Canadian working with SHAKE WEIGHT - with intended purpose of complimenting him on defensive end while being a secondary ball handler on offensive end
4 - Hope said Gif is not meant to imply that the inexperienced owner is a 'jerk-off' for making that pick!
5 - Hoping the names CHUCK and MOOKIE and a Canadian are interesting enough to give Ben some material to make the Movie!!!

That's all

Forget Doncic; I woudn’t have taken Bagley over Jaren Jackson or Bamba. You can tell what these guys are going to become in college. T.J. Warren the Bubble God (former Sun) set the record for college points at N.C. State, alma mater of David Thompson, and was super efficient. Could he defend? No, but he was worth the shot at 14 or 15. I remember people saying “we could’ve had Rodney Hood!” And, yes, you can find articles calling Hood the steal of the draft.

Bagley wasn’t that efficient in college. His athleticism should’ve translated into elite finishing ability; he never had that. Was never a rim protector or a defender. At this point I think he’s Zach Randolph or Al Jefferson at best. I have to imagine that Bill Duffy nixed Doncic to Sacramento. It’s the only explanation.
If Doncic wouldn't play in Sacramento they should have just traded the pick; they could have at least gotten the package Dallas gave the Hawks for #3. Heck, Bagley probably would have been there for them at #6.
Exactly.

Who wants to talk about my favorite player from that draft, Gary Trent Jr.? Dude ate tape, worked on his fitness during the down time and is absolutely killing it in the bubble. Nurk looks good but doesn't have his touch around the rim yet. Collins needs to quit fouling.
Fun fact: I beat Gary Trent Jr. in a game of one on one. He was only 16 so it was a little unfair, but still.
Another fun fact: I lost to Kiki Vandeweghe in a game of one on one. I was only 15 so it was a little unfair.

I’m not a country fan (no shade though). We brought Luke Bryan in for a concert in college ( I was the VP) he wanted to play basketball before the show and he kicked my ***.

Some people like that story.

I got dunked on by Marquis Daniels like every single practice for my last season of organized basketball. There’s a reason it was my last season.

I went to high school with Derek Strong and once played one on one with him. He is a foot taller than i am. I thought i could out-quick him but i could get four steps past him and all he had to do was take one step and jump to block my shot. Basically, anything closer than 35 feet from the basket got blocked - easily.

Sacramento hasn’t made a good draft pick in 15 years besides Fox and Cousins. I fully expect that Bagley was their guy and they thought Memphis might take him. They’re the Kings, it is what it is. (Sorry if anyone is a Kings fan)
Fox was a GREAT pick -
Getting him at 5 was solid -
He and Lonzo Ball were pitted against each other in two NCAA games, With Fox KILLING Ball and UCLA in the torny.,
and were compared and contrasted in depth leading up to that draft.

I'd MUCH rather have Fox, then what the Lakers got with Lonzo Ball at 2.
Realizing there are more chapters and development for each...

Cousins was and still is a head case - and they were destined for issues with him.
Well documented that teams were scared off due to potential attitude problems.

I cant say that was a "great pick" at 5.... he fell a little further than he should have -
Evan Turner (2nd) and Wesley Johnson (4th) were selected before him.
Golden State taking the next selection (#6) and getting a guy named Ekoe had to be a disappointment. - lol
Paul George (#10) is who the Kings SHOULD have drafted...

so 'Great Pick' with Cousins is a stretch - more like: "FELL IN THEIR LAP"

@tarheel1991: Pau was the other person I was considering besides Drexler.

LOL he was the guy I wanted ahead of Drexler in the third last year (he got taken a few picks before me, then Drexler right before me).

I think he would have fit better with Durant/Chandler than he does with Jordan/Marion. I would have rather had Ho Grant on this year's team (last season he lasted all the way until the end of the third, dang it) for more D, less usage, and more offensive rebounding.

We are on the same wavelength I guess. I wonder if we are using the same stuff to build our draft board.

Well dBKC, I hated drafting Draymond because I couldn't type out Ben Simmons either
8/9/2020 9:41 PM
It was tough to do, especially not being 100% sure if I get a third season of him or not...but 3 seasons of Steph/Simmons/Kemp is deadly IMO
