It was tough to do, especially not being 100% sure if I get a third season of him or not...but 3 seasons of Steph/Simmons/Kemp is deadly IMO
Simmons is an incredibly good fit with Curry. Even if you guaranteed me three seasons, though, I'm still not sure I could have pulled the trigger that early. But more power to you for taking that risk. I've been playing it safe, taking guys with five seasons with healthy minutes so far (though I may end up using a 1600-minute Gasol season depending on how the draft shakes out).

OK bds, come explain yourself. Capela is a solid choice but I don't really understand the Cheeks pick.

If LeBron is playing point, the Cheeks pick makes no sense to me. Capela is good but awfully low minutes for this point in the draft. But pex did well with him in a similar spot so wtf so I know?

Not a problem! I like having the opportunity to explain myself.

1) LeBron and Capela are reeeeeeeally good at rebounding for their positions (PG & PF), so I don't have to worry about that with Cheeks.
2) I didn't have enough passing. Cheeks covers that.
3) Cheeks gives me up to five seasons of 90+ D. He is absolutely the best defensive passer left who isn't a turnover liability
4) His eFG% is actually pretty good, better than the other passing options.
5) I can now draft any shooter. I do not have to worry about rebounds, passing, defense, or usage at all.
6) I'd rather look for a low usage big than a low usage point guard. Or any point guard minutes after this point, for that matter.
7) I averaged 60 Usg% and 6000 minutes per team with my first two picks. I really don't need more usage, especially at the price of eFG%.

This is one of those "good for Savage" picks.

It's your team bud. Lot of drafting left to do so anything could happen.

But yeah, LeBron and Capela are elite rebounders for their position. But Ewing is meh and now you have Cheeks at guard who is one of the worst rebounders there is at his position.

May not matter because you have LeBron. Also I barely finished in the top ten last time, so I am no authority.

Fair enough. I would have wanted more rebounds and more threes out of a PG/SG next to Lebron, and not cared so much about the defense because of Lebron. And I'm not sure you're as set in terms of rebounds as you think. But i hear the reasoning.

I could run down the numbers, but I choose to leave a little mystery. The savagery continues....

round 3 thoughts done & round 4 thoughts begun. Time now to look at my once again decimated draft board.

My early teenage years aligned perfectly with the grunge era so when you say “Bonus points if anybody knows why I posted this gif” I obviously know the answer is Mookie Blaylock, Pearl Jam’s original name.

I'm starting to wonder if my Marion pick was a mistake. I wanted to lock in a SF (well, sometimes PF) that shoots threes next to Jordan, and love Marion overall. But given that I was determined to take a PG in the 3rd or 4th - waiting on one the last time was a huge mistake - it was always going to make things difficult in the post. Post defense is likely going to be a big issue, especially at the 5, which is a problem in a league that, in its only iteration, was dominated by teams with stud centers.

And as I said in the draft thread - I'm basically building a worse version of my disappointing 52 Mil team that I thought would be great. So not a good sign.

I got Capella in the middle of the 4th round. But if there's another season available (even if it is a partial one for Capella), then his value does rise a bit.

Lucas is the perfect complement for Howard and you guys should not have let ash get him. Not my fault, I wasn't going to take him again.

I debated Capela to offset the 2 non starter seasons for Hassan, but I didnt have position flexibility to have someone switch with him and it appears he might have another bad defensive season coming out.

I will say with Ewing, I partnered him with Russell and most of the leagues it was not enough rebounding or defense. I **** the bed with building around Ewing though, so best of luck.

If he was there at my slot, I was going to take him. So much rebounding and the only real flaw is being mediocre at defense.
