It has to be one or the other because asylum seekers don't get to "choose" the country they seek asylum in. You can't pass through one safe country because you "choose" to seek asylum in another. Otherwise, there would be a bunch of people "choosing" Switzerland or Sweden. Either Mexico is safe and the folks should be applying there or Mexico is not safe and the U.S. needs to protect itself through border security.

I don't think anyone will ever argue we don't need border security. The argument is if the wall is the answer.

I believe what we have now is not working. So increasing the fence, wall, whatever is necessary.

I agree with this statement. My issue is that border security and the wall aren't one and the same.

I think we can all agree that:

#1) We are not border experts

#2) It does not take an expert to see that what we have now is not sufficient from wall/security, manpower, laws, etc.

We agreed that society puts blacks at a disadvantage.

We we agree that other border security choices are better than a wal.

The wall isn’t just a bad solution, it isn’t a solution, period.

No no one has ever denied that border security is important.
