I believe my salary is so high because of all the trades I make, and right now my team is really old (trading catching up with me). I have never made it past the second round so no adjustments for me

One item I don't like about this system is you get penalized for having consistent very good regular season, it penalizes you for this by way of getting last of the draft picks every year, so you never get really good rookies.

Plus I don't like the fact that you cannot make your FP someone you traded for, this makes you play you worst players for a season so you can get a FP worthy rookie in a draft

We all know you better off going into the playoffs at the 5,6,7 spot, because you still make the playoffs and get a half way decent draft pick as opposed to winning the conference and being last in the draft order, and having no advantage in the playoffs.

I know no system is perfect and I like this league so much but these are the items that I dislike, the regular season is basically meaningless as long as you make the playoffs, perhaps we could make the draft order based on the playoff results...This makes more sense to me

THE TEAM THAT WINS THE CUP GETS THE LAST DRAFT PICK..and so on, with warehousing a team that wins the cup and finished 5,6,or 7 gets a double bonus the cup plus a better draft pick order then the team that won the conference.

Nice indeed, to realize that not only are Maricopa and Gotham City better teams than mine, but also younger than mine. Really makes me wonder if I have any clue what's going on here.

I alway try to stay near the top during the regular season, and feel like it does my team no good, guys talk about trying thier best, but the unspoken part of this league is everybody at some point has to have a really bad season or two to get top quality draft picks,

I am not saying that getting some top draft picks is a GUARENTEE that you will have a top team, COACHING and GM skills are still required but you do get penalized for being near the top of the conference during the regular season...shouldn't we give some incentive for trying to be near the top of the conference during the regular season?

corbs makes a couple of good points, but even the draft is just ******* in the dark, the way it's set up.

On the one hand this league is a complete crapshoot. And on the other hand, one guy's won three of 13 championships. Probably no one works harder on building his team through trades than corbs, and god knows I try to develop my drafted players and maybe stick with them too much.

I got no clue.

Agreed Damag, I know my viewpoint is biased in that I like the idea of trying new players (other teams players as well as some of my rooks thrown in)

And you are right on about the draft being a **** in the dark(somewhat) but I realize my big points after all that rambling is

1) make the regular season mean more

2)Not sure about the downside of this by why can't your FP be a player you trade for, you have to give up something good to get something good in this league

I like to trade and finish near the top so I am forced to get a FP worthy player in the draft every few seasons, (which means I need to finish near the bottom at least once every three or four seasons) of the regular season, maybe if the draft is based on the playoff result I can still play my hardest during the regular season and if I get bumped out of the playoffs early I STILL GET A LITTLE BENEFIT from that

NO ONE WANTS TO GET BUMPED FROM THE PLAYOFFS EARLY

Sorry being a little selfish in my description it should say WE where it says I except for the part about the trading I realize not everyone likes trading

Number of Seed in conference / How many times to MAKE the CUP FINALS

Number 1 Seed / 6 times

Number 2 Seed/ 5 times

Number 3 seed/ 0 Times

Number 4 Seed/ 6 Times

Number 5 Seed/ 3 Times

Number 6 Seed/ 2 Times

Number 7 Seed/ 3 times

Number 8 Seed/ 1 time

CUP FINALS SEEDS 1-4 = 17 times

SEEDS 5-8 = 9 times
1/16/2009 10:11 AM
Number Seed / MADE IT TO CONFERNCE FINALS

1 seed = 9 Times

2 seed = 11 times

3 seed = 6 times

4 seed = 9 times

5 seed = 6 times

6 seed = 6 times

7 seed = 3 times

8 seed = 2 times

Total times made it to conference finals SEEDS 1 Thru 4 = 35 times

SEEDS 5 thru 8 = 17 times

Maybe being a cop for so many years has made me cynical ....stats don't seem to bare out my argument considering the 4 seed sometimes has more points then the 2 or 3 seed in the conference.

I still feel that FP should be able to be a traded player , and that the draft list goes from the playoff results (unless that would be another different script for admin to run) we already give them enough work

OKP in what season did we enact the 3 year in a row not in the playoff bonus?
1/16/2009 11:06 AM
Name of Team Times Missed Playoffs In A Row (if more than 3)

1) Yorba Linda 1

2) Pontiac 1

3) Wynadotte 2

4) Yorktown 3

5)Kingston Crooks 3

6) Encintas 3

7)Beaverdale 3

8) NY Junk Yard 3

9)Winnipeg 4

10) Henderson 4

11) Chilliwick 4

12) Roswell 4 3 in a row

13)Okanagen 4

14) Indianapolis 4

15)Anoka 5 3 in a row

16) Gotham City 5

17)Halifax 5 4 in a row

18) Valhalla 5 3 in a row

19) NY Pussycats 5

20)Maricopa 6

21) Hernando 7 4 in a row

22) Kandahar 7 4 in a row

23) Intercourse 7 3 in a row (twice)

24)Lenigrad 8 3 in a row

I did this research quick (there maybe a mistake..)I think it is correct it is not intended to say anyone tried do miss or tried to get 3 in row, as there are a lot of factors that can cause a team to miss playoffs (mulitple owners/ complete rebuild ...etc) I was just curious.

Damag brought up this issue when he first joined the difference between making it to the first round of playoffs and getting beat and missing the playoffs and getting bonus for whole team

Heya Corbs. Great detective work!

As for your question about the SC bonus for not making the playoffs 3 years in a row..... I think we made that rule, along with the other bonuses very early...way back in season 2 or 3. The SC Bonus' purpose was to give teams who have consistently struggled a renewed sense of hope and to give them a boost to their talent.

The other bonuses were set up to improve teams below the playoff line as well as compensate them due to the fact they would not be receiving the random skill upgrades that playoff bound teams would get.
1/16/2009 11:53 AM
I understand the reasons for the bonuses OKP.. WHY can we not have a traded player for a Franchise Player... Each team can have only one franchise player ....it seems to me it would make trading (especially for older players more interesting... I really don't see how a team can exploit this
1/16/2009 12:07 PM
As long as we're being honest... everyone knows, the one season I didn't make the playoffs, I tanked it, went all out Tavares Lottery on it. I honestly started out that season hoping to do well, it became obvious early on that I wasn't going to, so I went balls to the wall after that trying to lose. By the end of the season I was figuring out ways to lose; I was truly practicing for yogsloth's self destruction league.

So the one and only time I had the first draft pick... ahh, the guy's solid, but I didn't get any guaranteed superstar by any means. And I doubt he's going to be a future FP.

I brought up the issue of playoff bonuses when I joined? LOL I don't really remember... so long ago... was probably more like I didn't understand how it all worked, it's easier when you can see it.

Yeah, the worst scenario is if you finish high but lose in the first round... crap draft choice but no non-playoff bonus.

Of course, this past draft I sat in what I thought was a useful spot... made the playoffs, staying at the top of that list... yet I had the 9th pick. Except it was a weak draft and I went and blew my picks, didn't go my way at all.

Overall, I said when I joined this league, I wanted to try to build my team to take the occasional shot at the top... didn't want to stay consistently mediocre every season... well guess what?

1/16/2009 12:14 PM
I disagree with the Sydney Crosby bonus in that every year a team misses the playoffs they are getting( team wide bonuses) then on top of that you give them a mega star player....I just think if a team misses the playoffs 2 years in a row you are setting them up to say hey if I MISS one more year I get a player that only 5 or 6 teams get the chance to have....the only other way to get a player with that high a rating is to play him for 19 games a season for 6 or 7 seasons, or for the rest of the teams when you get a player of that level he has to retire or become your FP
