Didn't expect to lose this game, but I am shorthanded, and Brent Grady got injured here. When it rains, it pours, right?

I'm trying to go with a slowdown at this point, hoping that the team will figure out the system before long.

Still ranked, but that won't last.

Coach, Grady won't miss any time due to his hyper-extended knee. I'd say he's around 80% right now.

I'd recommend resting him for at least a couple of days if possible. If you try to hurry him back too soon, he has a greater chance of sustaining another injury. It's really your call though.

-----------

My impression is that my team is really pretty bad right now. I think we might be missing the postseason altogether. I may have to ramp up team practice time so we get up to speed on our system, a little bit quicker, but I'm not sure from where the minutes will come.

[edit, 2/2/10:]

Syracuse is on probation through 3/2/10 and had their prestige drop down to a B+. They've also gone 15-13 and are on the bubble for the PIT. If they go from a regional power to a regional consideration, that's a big difference for recruiting the NYC area for me.

Every win is a big positive, even if it is against a bad, sim-coached team. We need every win. Our losses have been bad in the sense of the magnitude of them but they've been against good teams. We just need to keep plugging away. Lyons is almost healed up enough to rejoin the team...that'll probably wait until conference play.

Winning ugly is better than losing, no matter what. I would like to see better 3 point shooting from my guys, though. Parsons, in particular, has beeen underperforming.

I'm brining Nolans back next game. Hopefully he will not get re-injured. He's around 80% right now.

This was an important game - if we had won, I'd have thought we'd have a decent chance for the postseason. We didn't, and I'm thinking that we're probably not going to pull it together in time. Rutgers is an alright team, but not amazing or anything, and their homecourt advantage was a B-minus. A winnable game. Well, we didn't win, and we didn't compete.

Teed has been truly, truly awful. Lyons has been hampered by that injury but he hasn't been doing anything good with the time he has had so far. Hargraves is performing pretty well (ignoring the assist-to-turnover ratio for a PG) but Parsons and Jaco are both absolute trainwrecks. Gill and Grady are respectable at this point. Blakey belongs as a backup, and it shows. Knipp is at least arguably my best player at this point.

I'm not sure if I have to play with distributions or if I just have to ride this out as the team gets more experienced.

This was one of the few road games in the conference that we should have had a chance to win. Instead, we completely, and I mean completely suck.

RPI doesn't matter. I'll just put occasional updates - this is another one of the "not our year" years.

This is the first significant win of the new era. It's particularly sweet because it's against Duke. Maybe we can build on this.

A nice, convincing victory. We'll be losing the next one, though, against Boston College, a team that should be challenging for the National Championship this year.
