AGAIN, we can't complete the sweep. Klono's just beat us 7-2. Cole goes 8 innings allowing just one earned run, for the win. Mogridge pitches fairly, but takes the loss.

We took a 2-0 lead right away in the first on a 2 run HR from Cullenbine, but that was it for the day. Meanwhile they got one in 4th, 3 in the 5th and 3 in the 8th while Cole was breezing through our lineup. Bob Meusel with a double and 2 HRs, 3 runs and 3 RBI. Other then Cullenbine's HR, we got just a single from Hosmer, and 2 singles from Mogridge. Speaker and Dickey each drew one walk.

New series starting overnight. It's a home and home with a team from the National League, the Pittsburgh Hitmen. First game at their field, PNC Park. Overall it's a slightly better hitter's park although it reduces home runs. The team is 48-36, tied for second in the AL West, 6 games back.

The Hitmen's best hitters this season have been Josh Bell and Brian Giles. In this game they are pitching 1909 Vic Willis (13-8, 2.37). Their catcher is Tony Pena, an A+ thrower. We have Red Ruffing (1-0, 5.68) on the mound.

Down 5-3 after 8, we put up a 5 spot in the top of the 9th and beat the Hitmen, 8-5. Perez (3-1) got the win in relief, and Fetters with his 7th save. Mark Melancon took the loss.

A scoreless game until we put up 2 runs in the top of the 4th. Leach with a 2 run double. Top 7, Hosmer's bases loaded walk made it 3-0. Ruffing with a no hitter after 6 innings, allowing just one walk. Bottom 7 now, and Ruffing falls apart, followed by Poncedeleon throwing gasoline on the fire.

We got crushed 8-1, and Scherzer got pounded. 14 hits and 5 walks in 5,1 innings. He needs more minor league seasoning. Candelaria gets the win.

This evening starts another home and home that we will probably split. We play another team with a normal name, Ich Der Gluten Spoon. They have the worst record in either league at 26-60. Did I say a split....they'll probably sweep us.

They have 1904 Three Finger Brown (4-11, 4.53) going. We are throwing our best, Roy Mitchell (10-4, 3.05).

I was gearing up for a big tirade if we had lost this evening's game, but it won't be needed. We won 23-4. We were down 3-0, and then 4-1, but we exploded for 10 in the 6th, 6 in the 7th, and another 6 in the 8th. Three Finger Brown only gave up 3 runs in 5+ innings. We rocked lefty reliever Joe Gibbon (0-7 now) for 8 earned runs in 2/3 of an inning, in which he threw 46 pitches. Mitchell wasn't real good (4 ER in 6 innings), but he picked up his 11th win. Castillo and Perez finished up.

Ich Der Gluten Spoon put up a stick in the first as a run scored while Seybold GIDP'd. They then got a 2 run HR from Seybold to make it 3-0. We finally got on the board in the 5th on an RBI hit by Dickey. They got that run back in the top of the 6th on a solo HR from Merrifield. Bottom 6 is when the avalanche of runs started for us.....

Dennis Powell gave up 12 earned runs in 1.2 innings before he mercifully was injured and left the game. He threw 81 pitches. Among guys who are not in the Three Stars, Helms was 4 for 6 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Cullenbine was 2 for 4 with 3 walks, 2 runs, and an RBI. Dickey was 2 for 3 with a walk, run, RBI. Simpson, 2 for 4, 2 walks, 4 runs, RBI. We had 20 hits and drew 15 walks.

Gibbon was at 17% when he came in, Powell was at 10%. I guess this owner has not even looked at the team in a while, and that's how you get these kind of crazy numbers.

We play Ich Der Gluten Spoon again overnight, at their field this time. Game is at the Braves current field, Truist Park. They've got 1906 Barney Pelty (5-8, 3.90). He must be their ace. George Mogridge (0-1, 6.00) goes for us in his second start.

Of course, we lose to the worst team in either league, 9-7. We led 6-2 and lost. Mogridge did not pitch well, but the loss went to Alcala. Al Grabowski got the win in relief. A guy who is at 85% retired 4 straight batters for the save.

Speaker and Simpson each had 3 hits. We scored 7 runs but had just 4 RBI. That's because their catcher, Walker, had 3 passed balls and each one scored a run.

Tomorrow afternoon we start a home and home with a team called Sandman. They are 55-33 and in first place in the NL East. They have a RD of +156, and should have even a few more wins than they do have. First game is at our place. They are throwing 2014 Shelby Miller (9-4, 4.23). We've got Sam Leever making his debut for us.

We took the first game with Sandman, 7-6. Leever did not pitch that well, but he gets the win. We pounded Shelby Miller for 5 ER in 3.2 innings to hang the loss on him.



They got 2 in the top of the first on RBI hits by Aaraez and Segui. Bottom 4 now, still 2-0, and we batted around and put up a nice 5 spot...

It's now W-L-W-L-W-L-W-L after a 4-3 loss to Sandman. They walked it off in the 10th on a 2 out RBI hit by Jeff McNeil. Fetters takes the loss AND throws 28 pitches, so he's gonna be no use in the next game. Tug McGraw gets the win.

Overnight we start a 3 game series with What If FSJU. They are 2 games better than us at 51-39. We are 49-41. They have a 10 game lead in the AL East. We are 12 games out of first and 10 games out of second, and the wild card, as Target just gained another game on Balking.

We are home for the series, although FSJU plays in the same park as us, 1976 Yankee Stadium. They have 3 righties going, first Cy Young (15-5, 2.48) who we beat earlier in the season. We have our only really reliable pitcher going, Roy Mitchell (11-4, 3.16). We swept these guys last time in a 3 game set at their place.

I see that FSJU still has the same roster they started with. No moves at all.
