He's from everywhere with stops in Florida, Hawaii, Vietnam, New York, a few other places, and now Michigan.

Wow...nice work, Robusk.

Band of Horses:  Not surprised.  Those dudes seem to have just stumbled on to two album's worth of awesome melodies and a decent sound...but you don't get the impression that they're all that into pushing their sound to new (interesting places).

BB:  Again, not surprised...only because despite loving a lot of Shins music, I've always gotten the impression that Mercer is a bit of a douche.  The two times I've seen them, he's seemed seriously disinterested.

That's a real surprise about Beach House--I like them, but don't love them...wouldn't have expected them to be awesome.

I can't believe your dumbass missed Heartless Bastards--that would have been the top one of all the ones you've listed for me to catch.  I've only seen video (including an awesome Austin City Limits performance), but they seem to really kick *** live.
Yeah, spot on with BB.

I was really bummed about missing Heartless Bastards, but I ended up having to pump a lot of extra time into a project for work.

I would like to try and circle around and catch them at a later date if they are going to be nearby.  They are from Ohio I think, so I can probably scoot down there and go see them play.

BLE:  What are your thoughts on The Ettes?
I like them...a lot.
I thought you might.  They seem like your style.

The vocalist, Coco (not her real name), was actually one of my good friends growing up and we still try and hang out whenever we are in the same town.  Just spent New Year's with her in Nashville actually.  She is a real firecracker and a lot of fun.  She hasn't changed a bit since they started to take off.  Her boyfriend is the bassist and is working on a side project with my best friend.

I really like the direction their sound is taking.

Was checking out this British folk band Mumford and Sons.  I don't hate them.

Wow...that's really cool.  If they make it out here, I'll work you for premium seats.

Nice ...somehow I thought I knew them and disliked them, but I was wrong.  Must have been thinking of someone else.  Just checked out their Myspace tracks...really good stuff.

Pitchfork game them a 2.1...I think that must be what I was thinking of...I love that site, but they can be ridiculous every now and then with what they choose to hate.

Yeah...  usually solid but sometimes they have to get all Spin on me.

What are the f'ing odds?  I just found out Heartless Bastards are playing in Detroit tomorrow night.

Already got tickets and a date.  Game on mofo.

I lived there my entire life until I graduated from college. Originally from Livonia and went to Michigan State and lived in East Lansing for 5 years.

Man, it was awesome.  Erika Wennerstrom is one of the most talented people making music right now.  The rest of the band was meh, and the sound system was a little crappy...  but it didn't matter.  Her voice sounds as unbelievable in person as it does in the studio and she actually did some shredding on the guitar.  She was such a powerful figure it was almost staggering.  I would absolutely see them again.

I did feel almost embarrassed that there were only like 200 people at the show.  Detroit sucks.  They would have had a lot more people if they played in Ann Arbor even though it is such a smaller town just based on the population makeup.

The second opening band was a group from Portland called The Builders and the Butchers.  They were actually pretty awesome.  Not sure if it is any of your guys' style, but I enjoyed it.

Cool.  Some people I work with live in Livonia but my experience with it is limited to the DMV.

Michigan is pretty underrated I think, outside of Detroit.

Between Ann Arbor and Royal Oak alone, there are a ton of great places to out as well.

Wow...that's a helluva endorsement.  Totally fits with what I would have expected...but still.  Glad to hear  she was awesome.
