With the frustrations of some owners over being way ahead of the clock, and having to wait 5-7 hours for someone to pick IN their time slot in mind, I had an idea that MIGHT help.

Would everyone agree to provide their cell phone at the beginning of each DEAL draft, and have it as a "reference post" on PAGE ONE of the draft thread, and also agree to receive texts during the draft IF they have not picked within an hour of the previous pick???

No need for cell phone for me. I already get alerts through email. If i am late for a pick its usually for a damn good reason...

I don’t have a problem with providing my number. That being said I think the draft is fine as it is. I still work and sometimes it’s difficult to just answer the phone at work. I know it’s a text. I’m sure their are others with the same problem. Plus we are all not in the same time zone. We do have an occasional long wait but they are not often. The longest wait is the first round. Why not just wait one more day to start the league and then just start with a clock?
But most importantly it is a league to have fun.

no cell for me. Draft is perfect as is, including the occasional grumpy complaints. Wouldn't be the same without those.

No cell for me either...

Don't have a real issue as long as people pick 'on time', though the waits ARE frustrating...

OTOH, waiting 7+ hours during the day, only to have someone NOT pick in their slot (get skipped) is a total waste of everyone's time...People (most) always make their slots during the early rds (when it matters)...Then around the middle rds, people figure it's no big deal to get skipped, they'll still get their guy when they have the time/inclination...

To me, it boils down to common curtesy towards your fellow owners...Iffn you're gonna have an issue picking in your slot, either send out a proxy, or let 'us' know that it's ok w/ you to get skipped...

Looks like we are in the middle of another multi-hour stall. Over three hours to this point and the next pick isn't scheduled for four more hours.

I'm drafting some rules of drafting etiquette that I hope will help avoid these stalls in the future. Nothing as dramatic as collecting everyone's phone number, but just something to set an expectation for how to draft in a way that balances real life priorities with a respect for the time of others.

I set up my site mail to go to my email. So real easy to get notified. I'm not seeing a huge problem here. Long wait happened once. Maybe make it two hours to pick when you are up from 8am to 8pm ET

I disagree, long waits have always been an issue and either they are getting worse or my tolerance is becoming less.
