I have come to believe that the defense rating matters very little in the Zone defense. That said, I also play the Press, so Donald Burns was not my first choice for my SF spot (that honor went to Demetrius Davis, a Penn State signee). Still, I really like most everything else about Burns. I think he'll turn out nearly as well as Robert Thompson has, even though he won't be seeing any significant PT his freshman year.
Two stars, 61st ranked SF, unranked overall. He'll be a depth player for this year and have the inside track for the starting job next year.
Burns turned out pretty well for a lowly two-star player. He's not going to make the NBA or anything -- not with his defense -- but he was a valuable contributor to some very good teams. Twice to the Sweet Sixteen, once to the Elite Eight, once to the first round of the NT. His rebounding was a big help for the margins we racked up over the last three years.
I changed my mind about defense mattering in the Zone, by the way, but Burns was significantly better than my other two options at SF this year. They'll still step into the gap by him, and I expect them to perform quite well. I'm not sure our overall defense will improve, but it won't be because of Burns' replacements.

Shue is like my Chia Pet. With his ratings and WE, he's going to improve steadily throughout his career, and might even make it to the NBA at the end. Right now he doesn't look like too much, but he'll be fun to watch grow.
With another year, Shue would be a Shue-in for the NBA. Too bad for him I redshirted Richards instead. He might still make it as a late 2nd round pick. Shue must be the most-improved non-redshirt player I've had on any of my DI teams (I did have one DII SF who went up a ridiculous amount -- between 50 and 65 per year, not including offseasons -- helped along by starting from the moment he arrived, along with his poor defense and nonexistent FT shooting freeing up a good 17 or more minutes per day of practice time). For the SG position, Shue's rebounding was phenomenal, and incredibly important to my team. For that reason alone, he'll be sorely missed next year. He turned into a pretty good shooter, too, but his backup, Biesenthal, should be able to fill that slot along with Gary Harrington.

I thought about challenging Penn State for Davis after they knocked me off the first time. After sleeping on it, I decided to go after Burns instead.

Penn State Records:

10th in steals, 7th in FT%

Drafted By: Utah Jazz
Draft Pick #25
-----------

Cornelius Cobb wound up an 810 rated star PG...pretty good chance of getting drafted [edit - but didn't get drafted]. 10th in assists, 14th in FT%

Scott Avilla is rated 808, but in the important ratings, looks like a more polished Joe Shue (the difference largely in durability). He didn't have a highly distinguished career, though.

Without going into specifics, none of the teams these guys signed with have had the success that Fordham has in the last four years.

cb - I wouldn't believe for an instant that the rest of the conference wouldn't be keeping you from an A+, that is in direct opposition to what Admin has told me in a rather contentious exchange related to prestige.

If you keep passing tickets back and forth, I would also point out that there is a pretty big difference between B and B+, in that a B+ team is much less likely to get challenged or raided.
