I am exhausted after trying to chase down Cole Hamels' float to get a better picture.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren spoke with the media after practice on Tuesday to discuss meeting with unrestricted free agent Brendan Shanahan on Monday.

“This was an exploratory meeting on our part and on Brendan’s part as well,” said Holmgren. “I’m not sure of the time frame. I don’t think it’s going to be a couple weeks from now before he decides. I know he wants to play and I would think by within a week to 10 days he’ll make up his mind.

“There are some holes we’d have to jump through in order to get it done, but I think if you have an opportunity to add a player of his stature it makes sense to look into it.”

Flyers trade Downie, Eminger, 4th to TB for Carle and 3rd.

1st: We already have the power forward type in Knuble and the streaky Lupul.

2nd: interesting move grabbing Carle. Downie was having a difficult time finding his game and icetime here. I loved his potential, but maybe this wasn't the right fit.

I think this is D-man #40 acquired since the end of last season. I'm not too familiar with Carle, but from the sounds of it this is a great pickup. Can't wait to see how they do when they are all healthy.

I think Downie will have a pretty good career if he gets more than a handful of minutes a game like he had in Philly. The Flyers are just too deep at forward for him to get anywhere, specially with Giroux & JVR in the pipeline.

Well the FLyers end the losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Fishsticks in a Veterans Day matinee. Richards w/ a shortie to win it and Kimmo score his 1st to ice it. Briere the game again with an injury. How long will he be out for this time?

Anyway, it's good to be going into the 'burgh with a win under your belt. Should be a close game as neither team scores very often.

I just read Stevens benched Hartnell during the 3rd period... and demoted Lups to the 4th line.

Apparently Stevens didn't think Hartnell wanted to play... and by demoting Lups he hopes he'll pick his game up.

I think Stevens at this point is fighting for his job. A lot more people are writing for him to get fired, I for 1 agree but if he would start coaching like he did in the playoffs this team would be unstoppable no matter who we had on our D.
BTW even though I was a big Downie fan Carle has been playing great and the Sbisa Carle pair looks great.
