including mine.... I'm teetering right at the edge... I'm hoping my starters and mop up can pick up the slack for a few more games and my relievers can recover... if not, it'll be time to start throwing games, which I HATE...

...i got 3 innings out of my bad long A pitcher (i won't use the mop up role) in the pm2 set tonight...if i can get one more good start i might be back on track...

Some teams are handling the fatigue better than others...With some of these short benches that I drafted, it's really tough. I'm playing scrubs, and out of position to boot. Hard to hide them, they can't play in the bullpen...

44-28 after a 20-40 start...almost back to scratch...

TZ's supposed to get the standings posted soon?

I wish I could blame fatigue. My teams suck, even when my players are all at 100%.

In the 140M league, my two Tier 1 hitters, '27 Ruth and '34 Gehrig, are on a pace to hit 7 HRs each. Both have slugging %'s under .350.

'97 Pedro Martinez (100M) has the worst ERA on the team and is on a pace to finish 0-29 (i.e., 0-4 thru 22 games).

My 84-93 Cardinals (80M) are on a pace to lose 51 one-run games.

...as a signpost for how fatigue is decimating bullpens in the 140 mil league, my 1904 charlie jaeger (yeah, i never heard of him before this league either), he of the 73 ERC+ and 2.21 SIM WHIP, is 5th in the fireman voting...

...at about the 20% mark:

70 mil:
Hopes - A wild card spot.
Current - 16-13, tied for 1st.
What's going on - Team has the fewest HRs hit on any team in the 70 mil leagues with 13 and 21 being the next worst. I don't see how that can hold up and the team to make the playoffs.

80 mil:
Hopes - A playoff spot.
Current - 17-15, 2nd place 1 game off the WC pace.
What's going on - Mediocre offence; ok pitching/defence. A real BLAH team so far.

90 mil:
Hopes - Division title.
Current - 21-11, in first by 2.
What's going on - Weak offence, but the fewest RA in the league. Going about as hoped.

100 mil:
Hopes - Playoff spot.
Current - 20-12, in first by 7.
What's going on - Very good offence and even better pitching/defence. Been a bit lucky so far too.

120 mil:
Hopes - Not too far below .500.
Current - 16-16, 1 game out of 1st, 2 out the WC.
What's going on - Incredibly bad offence, abysmal defence and awesome pitching. Could it be that few in my league knew how to handle this theme either? Could I be so lucky?

140 mil:
Hopes - Playoff spot.
Current - 21-11, in first by 2.
What's going on - With the widespread fatigue issues in this league, the leaguewide stats don't mean much. I'm afraid this one will be decided by which owners handle the fatigue monster best.

Just out of curiosity - How does a guy at 0% throw a complete game in a league with injuries turned on?

Regardless of the settings you use, shouldn't there be an injury and someone forced to be put in.

Link

If you look at the stats, Dad has thrown back to back complete games.
8/22/2009 9:44 PM
...i wouldn't have thought that was possible...the fact that each game was 255 pitches for hale isn't a good sign either...
8/22/2009 11:19 PM
He's actually thrown more but the PC in the box score stops at 255.

I'm pretty sure that I know how he's doing it from my experience with failure leagues. There are two things that make this possible - 1) Its a DH league and therefore Hale never has to hit. 2) The injury event on the pitchers side has to by dependent on the individual pitching settings.

BTW - its three in a row and still going - link
8/23/2009 8:27 AM
I put my Hale in as a starter at 0 (0), and he got hurt in the second inning, and this is with all my relievers listed as only available in the 9th inning, a pull 1 setting on Hale, and no pitch count...
8/23/2009 8:32 AM
Talk about mediocrity:

  • $70M (19-18)
  • $80M (19-18)
  • $90M (18-19)
  • $100M (18-19)
  • $120M (17-20)
  • $140M (17-20)
Six under overall. No teams doing very well or extremely poorly. Looks like a bunch of teams with 77-82 wins.

...if so, then it's a programming glitch that, hopefully, the site can correct ASAP...
