Reading the forums will probably make a smart user turn to a different game. How will that help HBD?

Exactly.

... well, there could be a better marketing, creating higher demand.

... and a better product, creating higher retention.

... and better administration of the game by WIS, getting rid of problem users for example.

I'm guessing the people at FOX/WifS have never thought of these things. Maybe you should apply for a job! Hit them with your brilliance!!

So... players who have passion (if sometimes misplaced) for a game is a turn off for you?

That makes sense.

Here's the problem with demand:
There are a limited number of geeks who like baseball, have the time to spend playing an internet game and have the desire to actually use that time on a game. The market for this game is not limitless.

Here's the problem with product quality/retention:
There aren't enough "bugs" to run people from the game. Like all games, there are a few quirks. They fix them when they can. I don't think there's a single bug right now that makes most users consider dumping the game.

Here's the problem with ADMIN:
They're inconsistent. If you have a legit point, it's this one. The higher ups know there's a problem. I'm not sure they know how to fix it. You can't check everything. You have to leave something to the people who work for you.

If I didn't have access during the day, I might have one team. Most likely, I'd have none.

How do you market the game to someone who doesn't have access until 6 PM at night? "Don't worry, you'll only miss 4 of 6 cycles"?

Sorry, miket, you went 0-for-3 on that one.

The market for this game is not remotely saturated.

I know all you think of is bugs, but try to stretch your mind around the possibility of actually improving the game.

Inconsistency has nothing to do with it. They're lackadasical. They let anything go. They almost appear not to care as long as the babies, clowns and pathologically self-aggrandizing keep throwing their money WIS's way.

Sorry, vic, you're incorrect.

1. Tell us your grand marketing plan.

2. Tell us about the improvements you'd make.

3. Inconsistent is the correct word. OK today, No Way tomorrow. That means they may be lackadasical on the tomorrow part.

You and your type are the beneficiaries of WIS not caring what type of site they run. Go to the Pit -- there are the people who are here because of the type of site WIS runs. And that is just as true today as it is certain to be true tomorrow -- WIS doesn't care.
9/29/2009 1:33 PM
If WIS is so awful, why are you still here?
9/29/2009 1:35 PM
cuz

1. No thanks. I don't think you have a plan.

2. No thanks. I don't think you have any improvements.

I believe you're the beneficiary of WifS lackadaisical policies. As best I can tell, you add nothing to any discussion. You troll and complain. You're what is called passive/aggressive. You really do no harm. You're easy enough to ignore. But, make no mistake about it, you add nothing.
9/29/2009 1:36 PM
Good post, miket. It added a lot.

Look up "passive-aggressive." Evidently you must have heard that somewhere but have no clue what it means.

Look up "pathologically self-aggrandizing," or easier yet, just look in the mirror.

You're wasting my time and everyone else's time.

Meanwhile, back on topic ...

What worlds have been merged? And what's the plan now?
Marketing, to incease the user base.

Product improvement, to improve customer retention.

Better administration of the game and the site, closing the Pit and weeding out the sub-marginal customers, improving the site for adult customers.

Can you handle the topic, miket?

You could leave.

I think back to the beginning of HD. I said "I'll join in S2. Let them work out the bugs." Then, when S2 came around, people were still clamoring to play. You looked forward to the email that said "World Smith has 48 openings" and you rushed to sign up so you wouldn't get shut out. HBD needs to create that enviroment. The "Bah, this team is old. I'll drop it and choose from any of the 200 other available teams" attitude doesn't work. It's a proven fact.
