In real life I have seen a few position players pitch, its rare but I seen it happen. Usually they pitch a few batters and then they miss the rest of the season because of fatigue.
This is not real baseball; this is HBD and that's what I'm talking about. Would you care to inform the class of what happens when you "force" a position player to pitch in HBD?
Hint: It's the same thing that happens to pitchers who play games in the field. THERE IS A PENALTY.
How hard is it to understand that DUR means one thing to 1's and 0's coded as "position players" and something completely different to 1's and 0's coded as "pitchers".
Try using a pitcher with 99 DUR every single game for 7 cycles. He gets worn out and blown out and ends up 0(0). PITCHERS FATIGUE MUCH FASTER THAN POSITION PLAYERS.
Go to your low-A inactive list and convert a pitcher to a position player or vice versa. Check out what happens to his ratings.
Perhaps the effect on the player is too severe - but to claim there should be no penalty because you've "seen it in real life" is just about the dumbest thing I've heard this week.
