i tried to clearly break down the financial implications of promoting the OP's pitching prospect
this didn't occur to me originally while i was doing but it looks like i place a much more value in future seasons than a majority of the posters in this thread, and possibly in HBD
for instance i hold players back until done developing at a decent pace almost to a fault, even if they are better than my ML options (unless i have a giant hole on my roster)
i also tend to avoid trading for players in multi year contracts who could help me this season but whose future contract years would not be worth it
not saying that it's better, just a different way of doing thing
Or that different owners value THE CURRENT season differently. I think most of the people on the "promote" side are saying is that if it can help you reach the playoffs this year, then do it. If you have a 10 game lead or are 10 games behind, probably better to leave him in AAA. However, at the time of the email, he had a 1 game lead. As long as that player makes you a better team, you promote to give you a better shot this year. Once you reach the playoffs, anything can happen.
