Quote: Now do it for all the RL teams running a FCP on defense and the fast break offense. Oh, wait, there are none.

Not sure how that is relevant.

I've submitted a ticket about it, even though the FT disparity has helped my team significantly. I just find it annoyingly unrealistic to see 45-0 FTA games among D1 schools. I blew out teams that would have beaten me under the old engine. (#13 SOS, so not terrible either).

If Seble says "Yeah, FCP is unrealistic too, just deal with it," then I'd actually be okay with that. But my understanding is that they're striving for realism.

Duke, the most efficient offense in NCAA last year shot 20% more FTs than their opponents. That's a lot. But it's a HECK of a lot less than the 100-200% disparity we're seeing now.

And my real-life Badgers have had several seasons where they've made more ft's in a season than their opponents have taken. We can all cherry pick various stats to make our case for one side or the other.

I would agree that it seems so far that something needs to be tweaked with ft's. But let's start throwing out season-long sample sizes that move this conversation from random speculation to actual relevance.

Although that's more a product of UW not fouling much than drawing a lot of fouls.

I think the point has been that there have been too many fouls being called, so this wouldn't necessarily refute that.

Google 'Duke referee bias' and it'll explain alot

Old players, new engine: Given the recruits, I suspect the numbers in general will be lower. . and probably the number of free throws will be lower. As well as the percentages, once the new recruits start cycling in.

or maybe just maybe the fact that coach k works on defense as much or more than he works on teaching offense means duke plays a superior brand of defense and fouls less than the average team.

I don't know, vandy. A few years ago, I read an article by an impartial UNC fan that was pretty persuasive about Duke's relationship with the refs.

I'm not sure that calling something baseless makes it baseless.

There are certainly both statistical and anecdotal evidence to the contrary. You could be right that the statistical evidence is only indicative of a well-coached team, and that the anecdotal evidence is simply the jealousy monster rearing its ugly head, but there is undoubtedly a "base" for the argument.
