emp;  It's a draft league, so your choices are extremely limited as to what you spend your money on.  You can't just outspend people on boards and efg% here.  So, if you build a team like you normally would, you end up spending far less than the cap on the same amount of minutes.  The only thing that you really can get here that you can't get in a $42M is defense.  You can actually build a "lockdown" defensive team here.  It won't work (as a lockdown) but it for damn sure makes an impact.  I believe you're in both the funk52 & the odl.  Take a look at the team rankings in both.  You'll notice higher ppg & better fg% in the odl, pretty much from top to bottom.  Guys typically over perform in a the $42M format... they typically perform right on cue (or slightly above, or under perform) in a higher cap.  Some of that is due to people drafting too much usage, but most if it comes from the fact that people actually (for the most part) pay attention to defense in this league... because it's the only thing left to draft that helps get you to the cap.

It wasn't always this way.  I frankly don't like it.  I love $42M leagues, but I don't like that building a $52M team requires you to draft (like as in round 1-6) so few minutes just so that you don't have too many minutes.

All that said - I'm pretty confident that my team blows chunks.  Hakeem is my high efg% at a whopping 52%.  Neither him, Vince nor Jamison is gong to cause foul trouble, but I have a ton of personal fouls.  I should do well on the boards, but not as good as I initially hoped.  I may have to use a different Kidd than I want.  Still have lots to look at for my other five guys, too.

Random observation:  all five of my starters' last names end in the "on" sound:  Payton, Robertson, Mason, Marion, Thurmond.  Unusual coincidence.

75-76 Kareem - The best player left at #9, imo. Can do it all on both ends of the court. 95D
01-02 Ben Wallace - Jerry Lucas almost made the team but I love Ben's top season (just 70 TOs in 2900+ minutes).96D
86-87 Fat Lever - Wish he had more dimes but 8 per game at 22.6% hopefully will be enough. 95 D
07-08 Mike Miller - Thought he would start but he gets bumped to the 6th man role. 1 round too early for him, probably. 69D
97-98 Patrick Ewing - This was not an easy pick to make. I figured I needed to spend as much as possible on as few minutes as possible at this point since I had a ton of cash sitting there. $2.1 mil gives 800+ minutes. A perfect fit for when Kareem out of the game. 95D.
81-82 Gus Williams - Needed a pg/sg and some usage. 23 points, 6-7 assists, over 2 steals per game. 53D
61-62 Elgin Baylor - has he ever even been drafted since the last sim update? His 43.8% efg is just bad.... 92D

If we can overcome Elgin's poor shooting, this team could be dangerous. Not a lot of FTAs but not a lot of PFs either. Dunno how that's gonna translate in the sim, probably to a bunch of Ls for me. Over 900 steals and 850 blocks.

I didn't even make the playoffs last season bro!  And I had a better team.  Sort of.  F*ck Kevin Willis, btw.  Sorriest player in the sim (not really, but I'll never use him again for a $52M team)

it's too bad that the FG%+ stat that was supposed to offset the period differences for guys like Pettit and Baylor dont really seem to mean a damn thing

I hate the new quoting system.  I'd like to quote just what felonius said here, but am forced to do otherwise.

I agree wholeheartedly with your statement.  Baylor could be such a deadly player if that stat worked the way it should... I mean, 105% of 45% ain't bad.  Too bad he won't shoot 105% of 45% (he might, but that's generally due to up-tempo/high ast% and not the stat.  Play half-court with only 50% cumulative ast% and you'll see his true colors).

In an effort to boost Baylor's fg% (and Ash's post above is making me paranoid), I've switched Gus Williams to his 82-83 season - lower usage w/ a higher assist % than the previous one. We'll see if it's effective or not make any difference.

Edit - Happy 4th of July, everyone!
