My guess is that many of you who are saying "it is just time" probably would not be saying that if the engine was updated to a level that you thought it should have been. I am saying this because I, too, am one of those thinking "it is just time". If changes were made to the level I expected, I probably would not be feeling this way.
Then explain all those other people who said "it is just time" when they left in the past. What was their "real" motive?
I defintely agree with him, anton.

If we had a kick-*** new engine that everyone was fired up about (and/or lots of other bells/whistles that we've been asking for forever), I don't think there's any doubt that would re-energize plenty of people who were starting to feel that things were starting to get stale. I know it would have that effect on me and my friends who play HD. Seems like a pretty obvious cause-effect, really.
I disagree.  Imagine that Daalt.  Games like HBD are far more superior to HD.  They are more intimate (with 32 owners), I can trade amongst owners at any time, minor league management, internationals throughout the season and amateur drafts.  Just more to do than set a 12 man roster 1 time at the beginning of the season and manage SH minutes when guys are to dumb to learn anything. Even with a new engine I still probably wouldn't change my gameplan/depth chart during the season and win just as much as I (well did) do.  WIS is coming out with NHL Dynasty, just like hbd - why would I keep spending time/money on a game that is pretty one dimensional like HD.
HBD has been out for years. If it was a new introduction and everyone was leaving HD to flock to it, then I'd buy into your argument more. (Or heck, even if it was several years old and everyone was saying, "I'm leaving to play HBD instead".

But that's not the case. Honestly, aside from the fact that I agree with it personally, it just seems like common sense. If a product is starting to feel old/stale and they give it a great overhaul that improves everything, a lot of people are going to be happier with it.

Honestly, if that statement isn't true, just about every company in America needs to go back to the drawing board.
Dalt I agree with what your saying, but I have to lean towards moy on this argument.

A complete overhaul of the engine was due, yes we all know that, but it just didnt go far enough.

And to me personally they needed to do more with the game itself. Get more involved, get more in-depth, get more detail.

And they just didn't do that, besides all the wackiness that was going on as well, led me to drop my 2 teams, and now I have none.

Just for the simple fact that, ever since I have started playing, there was really no change, and it always felt the same to me.

Just like over the years, Playstation and Xbox have completely overhauled their systems, and companies have brought out better, and better games for it.

Yes the old games were good for the time, and great for playing here and there to have some old time fun. But definately not compared to the games they have available now, as well as the graphics, and in-depth detail that goes into it.

I refer HD to my purchasing of Madden, they haven't done much with the madden franchises in my eyes for the past couple of years, so I stopped buying it and playing it.

Just like HD, I just feel that they haven't done enough to keep the game from getting stale for me, but thats just my opinion.
Actually that sounds like you are siding with daalter not moy.

I have two D1 teams under this ID and achampa1. Honestly, I don't know if I'm leaving. I cut down from 4 teams to 2 over the last year, and while I still enjoy the game, there definitely are issues that need to be worked out. I've been one of the biggest opponents of the new way of recruit generation. It may have needed to be tweaked, but the change makes things swing too far in the other direction. The new engine is OK. Not great, and not perfect, but it does make distro matter a bit more, which is a plus. Still looking for some of the promised changes, though (namely, the ability to change one-on-one matchups on defense).

But isn't that what daalt is saying Shag?  Unless I missed his point, I thought he was saying that its not a time thing, its that the game has gone stale and if the overhaul would have been better people would stay?  Just like you with Madden.  Maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet to see what I am reading clearly.

Just to briefly get back to the ineligible thing - based on the few coaches I've talked to who have had players flunk a semester in the new engine, it almost doesn't matter how many minutes are put into study hall, the player's going to fail anyway.  Why not just tell us that X freshmen are going to fail regardless of the study hall minutes put into the player so coaches don't waste 20 minutes on a freshman when the outcome of that semester's scores was seemingly never in doubt in the first place.  I'm also trying to rack my brain to think of the last major DI player to become ineligible midseason in college basketball.  I can't think of one.
The Badgers had two, including Marcus Landry, about four or five years ago.  It happens every so often.

Yep, that's right.

Even if moy and I agree, we can't really admit that publicly. It's in the contract.

Isack ... I remember when we lost both Landry and Stiemsma to grades. Terrible.

Yeah that definitely sucked.  That was pretty much all of their 4/5 depth.

Minnesota lost Al Nolen last year, and I want to say another Big 6 lost someone, too.

Off topic but, what ever happened to the survey that we filled out?  Methinks that the results were bad enough that WIS is hoping that it'll just disappear........

I'd like to know the people that won the free season, or was that just another lie.

well I am glad they are starting to listen to the vets here, and take their suggestions, alittle late in my opinion.

It's too bad that they don't want assistance from a guy that actually is familiar with ranking systems.
