That was probably due to the 80+ chats we had explaining how buying/selling players wasn't acceptable in Coop yet you still asked again.  At some point, explaining the same thing over and over again becomes annoying.   Maybe you caught me on a bad day.  Don't know.  Like I said, I didn't recall throwing you out(or even threatening it) but I did recall suggesting that maybe Coop wasn't for you.    World rules are world rules.   You either play by them or you move on.  It's not like it was season 2 when the world was setting it's course.   We were in our 9th successful season as one of the top worlds in HBD.  You were in your 2nd or 3rd season in Coop.  I wasn't feeling your "better way".

In a perfect world, where HBD owners are held accountable for their actions, buying/selling players would probably be acceptable.  Unfortunately, HBD doesn't present that to us.   We've got aliases, collusion, unexpected departures, tankers, and so on.  When you're 60-60 and 17 games out of the WC2, there's really no incentive to win games.  So you could sell all your best players to your best buddy.   He suddenly has an infusion of talent and you've got some extra dough to chase that IFA.   Win/WIn for both of you.  However, it's a loser for the world.  You're playing your last 42 with AAAA players.   So not only have you strengthened him, you've helped everyone you've got left on your schedule.   Even with the MWR, you're fine if you go 7-35(assuming you didn't suck in previous seasons).   It's just bad business for an internet game.

I'm not going to argue about the merits of cash deals here. Anyone who has played more than a few seasons already has an opinion, and has already heard the arguments on both sides. I'd rather concentrate my efforts something really challenging, like discussing whether or not chads should be counted as valid votes (I know that I'm several years behind in US politics, but I figure if I ignore the present long enough it will just go away ... or at least change into the past).

Funny thing is, at the time I was unaware that there was an actual rule per se against cash deals in Coop. I knew that you didn't like them, but no one had ever actually told me that they were against the rules. I may or may not not have joined had I known - I'm not a big fan, I just don't have anything against them ... but I honestly didn't know and for obvious reasons (obvious in hindsight anyway) the subject never came up in the first couple of seasons I was there. Had I known that there was indeed an actual "rule" I wouldn't have accepted the trade in the first place. But a veteran owner made the offer, and it didn't occur to me that accepting it would expose me to a public dumping on in the forum. As it was though, few if any of the posts in the forum were about breaking a rule (I certainly don't remember any), they were all about collusion and the principle of vetoing any deal involving cash - and it was on that basis that I responded at the time. Believe it or not, it was only a month later when I approached you about raising cash for the internat that I realized that there was indeed an actual stated rule in place. In retrospect, I understand your TC frustration, you were explaining a rule that you took for granted that I knew existed, whereas I thought we were having a free exchange of ideas.

It became a de facto rule in season 2(I think).   Lots of gnashing of teeth over vetoed deals and such in the first two seasons.   I think, and I can't be sure, that I began putting it in recruitment threads so there would be no future problems.  It's possible that I didn't do it before season 7.   It actually came up last season when someone said "It's not really a rule.  It's just what we've done for a long time."   My reply was "After 16 seasons of those types of deals getting a veto, I think we'd call it a rule."

It's really just no more cash than salary being shipped.   Essentially you can send 5m in cash with a player who's owed 5m over the rest of the season.   There are a million ways around it but the design is simple.   Don't trade a TC pitcher and 5m for the former #2 pick making 27k.   It's just to prevent an owner from selling all his prospects, jacking up payroll and dumping the team after the season.   In truth, if it wasn't taken to the extreme, it would probably be OK.   But I firmly believe if Deal A is approved, similar Deal B has to be approved.  You can't let an owner make 3 deals and then veto deal #4 if it's the same type of deal under the "Oh, that's too many" umbrella.

OK, time to return the thread to booger. I'm going to sleep - it's 1:35AM here.

You wouldn't.   None of my worlds tolerate tankers.  You might be the only owner ever thrown out of a S1 world before the first season completed for tanking.

Why would you join a league with miket23 in it? I'd throw myself out if I woke up and found him in one of my leagues.
MikeT isn't so bad ... at least you always know where you stand with him. He's a sort of WYSIWYG kind of guy (for those that remember computer anacronyms from 20 years ago). Even when he's being closed minded he's rather open and upfront about it.

Thanks?

Is booger even allowed in private worlds?
