Just a bit off topic, but I think there must be differences in each world as far as what D2 teams are able to recruit. I've got an A+ prestige D2 team under all of my ID's (three different) and there was a HUGE difference as to being able to recruit ranked players. In Tark, I could barely get ranked players to talk to my Northeastern State team. In Rupp, I signed a PG in the high 150's (not within the 70 mile radius either), and in Crum I was able to get the backup message from centers ranked in the 110's (and was immediately able to recruit 110ish ranked centers that were within the 70 mile radius).
Again, all A+ prestige teams, so I'm not sure why there was such a difference. Maybe certain worlds are wired just a little differently to allow teams to reach a little farther into the talent pool. Anyone have any similar situations? Anyone have a rational explanation as to why the huge discrepancy between worlds?
I believe pull downs and drop downs are based on absolute levels of talent. That is, WIS has a formula for each position and a cutoff number (based on the prestige of the program). If the player exceeds the cutoff, the team cannot recruit him. Otherwise they can.
If this is how pull downs and drop downs are determined it explains the problem we recently had when recruits generation was most recently changed. The caliber of recruits on the whole went down but the formulas were not adjusted. As a result DII schools could reach further into the DI pool. This was corrected in a recent update, presumably they adjusted the formula but not recruit generation.
This explains why sometimes you can pull down ranked players and other times cannot. Player rankings are relative while the formula is absolute. A weaker pool of players yields higher ranked pull downs. Someone mentioned the number of scholarships; this has an indirect effect in that less scholarships means less players which means the #150 (or whatever) recruit will be worse than in seasons with more players.
I can't explain the holes in rankings, i.e. you can recruit #170 but not #190. Perhaps that is related to the bug where you can't recruit players on your own division search.
I doubt there has been an unannounced change. All indications are that nothing is being worked on in HD.
