Nolan Ryan is a great pick---I had him rated #2.

Sutton actually gives you just about as many years and has a generally much lower bb/9

A tough choice, but Gaylord Perry will pitch many innings consistently and win for 10 more seasons.  Its hard to leave younger pitchers and all those HOF position players on the table, though.

Sutton is a great pick.  I considered him above Seaver for a bit because of longevity and consistency.

Gaylor Perry...good pick.  But it does make me wonder why we idolize him and send the 'roid generation to the doghouse.  Don't get me wrong, I don't think any of these guys should be in the Hall of Fame.  We have a zero tolerance policy in schools and the same should be true for MLB.  But I digress...we don't let the 'roid boys into the Hall of Fame because they cheated. Why does Gaylord get a plaque when he was caught cheating all the time and was certainly cheating when he wasn't caught.  Maybe his numbers wouldn't have been that good if he wasn't throwing the spitter.

Rules are rules it seems.

Last 7 Picks have been 1970 guys, while 6 of those Picks have been Pitchers.  Why all of a sudden, no 1920 Picks?

I took P - Burleigh Grimes 1920...... I have used him before and he's awesome... Very Happy to have him for sure...

With our pick approaching, the draft room is getting quite excited but that could be the coffee and the donuts. Are there any 1970s pitchers left?

Fungoes, I think you are spot on. I think some sort of cheating has been going on since baseball started. But now, with TV cameras and the media and the obsession over athletes, cheaters are villains.

As a boy living in the Twin Cities in the 1970's I am happy to welcome my boyhood hero to the team. The pick likely represents a "future-win" strategy.

As much as I would have liked to have taken Sisler or Cobb or Rose or any of the offensive studs out there, with the run on pitching being what it is, I had to come away with at least one 5-10 starter. ergo Dolf Luque. I have had good luck with him in the past and in his good years he's very good. even his average years he's decent. now gotta find another 5-10 stud.

still would rather have had Sutton

I can't wait to see which player will sign with outbacker's team!

And here he is! Eddie Collins 2B-I love Middle Infielders who hit like OFers.  He'll start off 1920 by hitting .372.  And with Hornsby, Frisch, Morgan And Carew already picked I picked Collins because there's a big drop off after these 5.  I was shocked to see Collins make it down to 24.  My Scouts had Eddie ranked in the top 10 and were equally shocked by his eventual selection.

Plan on him getting stranded at second a lot.

I hope not and before you wrote in, I was screamingat my Scouts!!!!"I don't want Eddie stranded at 2B, and a loss of impact with this Pick."
