Five stars, #15 PG, #58 overall. Jones is ready to come right in and help, unlike many of the players that I sign. I'm hoping his work ethic helps him rebound. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a ton of room for growth, or that WE would count for more.
Jones came in and helped right away, and his WE seems to have helped him rebound. A damn solid point guard. If there were an Academic All-American Team, he'd be on it for sure. He'll be sorely, sorely missed.

Three stars, #66 SG, unranked. Biesenthal is a classic Fordham developmental recruit. He's got a lot of room to grow and he'll play well in the zone/press.
Kenneth Biesenthal got pretty good. I think the sim has something against perimeter players right now, because it seemed like he should've been able to be more efficient in his senior season, especially considering that he wasn't the team's focal point. I dunno, anyways, I don't foresee him getting drafted but I could be wrong.

Three stars, #62 PF, #252 overall. Criner will be great for me. I had a huge, huge battle for him but I got him eventually. I promised him 15 minutes his freshman year, which might be a little difficult, but I'll do what I can to make sure it works out. His athleticism, speed, and rebounding are all phenomenal for a freshman in my system. His shot blocking and FT shooting are good, and his low post rating is good enough that it should be up in the 90s by the time he's gone. His passing rating is decent.
I never really worked on Criner's rebounding, so it didn't max out. It was still quite good, though. He's one of the fastest and most athletic big men I've had. Overall, a really good player. I think he's a pro, but we'll see.

06/02coachensteinYes, great season. But Mr. Blind, your team having failed to live up to its #1 seed, you have no recourse, under the code of honour, but to fall upon your sword. It was nice knowing you.
06/02colorblind79Great year, everyone.
06/02colorblind79somewhat disappointing, but Grambling is a good team. I knew I wasn't heavily favored...if we hadn't turned the ball over so much, we could've won.
06/01coachenstein"Luck of the Ivies" is a good turn of phrase. A tip of the Harvard hat to Mr. Muffin.
06/01muffin_manKeep it up hoosier and cb. I need all the money I can get to replace these seniors.
06/01muffin_manThat Iowa coach certainly did not like losing to my team. I do have to admit that his team is much better on paper. I guess I just had the luck of the Ivies.
06/01colorblind79I think we need a record of our current prestiges, to compare with after the championship is played in a few days. Fordham B+, Columbia D, Boston U. C+, Princeton C-, Cornell D+, Brown D+, Yale D+, UPenn B-, Bucknell D+, Harvard C, Dartmouth D+, ...
06/01colorblind79...Duquesne D+
06/01colorblind79Ivy League > Big Ten, this year
05/31cyben5150Muffin sure did get the Big 10 riled up with his first round upset of an 11 seed.
05/31coachensteinYet another example of the mindless, robotic method of selecting COY. Our COY, muffin, just trots his eight seniors out and wins games whereas cyben actually accomplished something. Who selects the COY anyway? Some computer?
05/31cyben5150It's taken 27 seasons, but Bucknell has finally advanced out of the first round of a postseason tournament. Now we just have to start trying to make the NT...
05/31coachensteinRemember, blind man, just because your team is a #1 seed doesn't mean you should feel any pressure. A trip to the Final Four is perfectly acceptable, although we all expect to be pleasantly surprised and see Fordham in the championship game, if ...
05/31coachenstein...not win it. But there's no pressure. Just remember that everything depends on you.
05/30zamiam5 NT bids and 3 PTs? Not bad.
05/30colorblind79I hadn't read the play-by-play...the snappy response would be "they were in my way," or something along those lines. My guys must've been pretty miffed that we lost to you twice during the regular season.
05/30muffin_manGood game cb. Why did you have to go and injure two of my players right before the tourney?
05/30colorblind79thanks, schultz. Best of luck, everyone. We could all use as much recruiting money as we can get, so why don't we agree not to lose to anyone outside of the conference?
05/30schultz11congrats on the 1 seed cb

05/29colorblind79the rankings are definitely messed up. Just look at Georgia Tech. Also, look around this very conference. It's too hard to fall out and too hard to break in.
05/29schultz11the rankings must be pretty messed up then...imagine a top #25 either not getting in or getting a 12 seed...
6/2/2008 11:47 PM
Grambling State lost in the Final Four to Stanford. We will have our "new" prestige tonight. It will undoubtedly stay at B+. Perhaps if I have enough players drafted, we'll get up to an A-.

Coaches Corner
DateCoachMessage
06/04schultz11moving up to a B- would be nice
06/03coachensteinI remember once, many years ago, I got lucky six times in a row. But I had lots of money in those days. It's easy to get lucky when chicks think you're rich. Why are you still alive, Color Blind? Death before dishonour.
06/03colorblind79this is a game of luck as much as it is a game of skill, especially at the DI level. You have to be skilled enough to put yourself in a position to get lucky six times in a row. Now who's going to mention how dirty that sounds? Anyone?
06/03colorblind79I know that my prestige will be staying the same, but I'm looking forward to the sizeable bump in store for Columbia, Yale, and hopefully B.U.
It is so much fun being in a conference with coachenstein. I'm really glad he came to Harvard. He does have to improve his recruiting, however, if he intends to turn the corner and become an NT contender rather than a PIT contender.

Incidentally, after having done the calculations, I've determined that I will have a recruiting budget that's comfortably in the six figure range. Provided that things don't go horribly wrong, I should be able to pull in a very nice class.

Only Richards was drafted. I'm a little surprised that Jones and Criner didn't make it.

#29 PG, #114 Overall, ****; ineligible. A $120 special, Donald Sanders may or may not show up. I think he's a pretty damn nice player in spite of his relatively low work ethic, so I'd really like to see him decide to play for the Rams and not go JuCo. If he does, we'll be in great shape for the PG slot for quite a while. He could be a slightly better FT shooter, but in general he's got very nice ratings for a first-year player (they should go down slightly in between his freshman and his sophomore year, though), and if you've been following my tracking thread(s) for a while, you'll know that I love good-rebounding guards. I didn't have a lot to lose in going after Sanders, and I've got a great deal to gain if he does come to Da Bronx.

I'm sorry coach. I thought I would be playing for you next season, not taking a year off. I'm going to go the JUCO route so I can keep my game sharp. Maybe I'll be on your team down the road.
