I used to have a postcard (very limited edition lithograph with a very clear original signature) from the latter period of his life but it got lost along the way. Financial considerations aside, it would have been my prized art possession.

I guess it depends on the definition of sodomy. Sodomy laws, which are biblically inspired, are strictly based on anal sex. This comes from the word's etymology, originally ancient Greek and adopted by Latin.

Dali's stuff is almost always related to psychology and, in that sense, 'sodomy' can refer to either anal, oral or beastiality. The painting is actually about Death (the skull) forcing art (the piano) to please him.

i had a signed norman mailer book lost in a flood.....i miss it.
i spent a fortune on framing and conservation glass for the dali.

it looks to me like the skull is playing the piano.

it is shocking how few people either know or appreciate dali...total guess but i think very few people under 35 heard of him and almost nobody unless you learned about him in a college course.

Surrealism, in general, doesn't get a lot of love from the art establishment. They'd rather spend an entire semester analyzing a single Rembrandt for meaning that isn't there.

that's a lip. that's dali's lip thrashin around makin money for no good reason he can see in the long run
