You said they are used by the government to keep us under control. No. They are here to enforce the law and prevent anarchy. Like someone taking your car because they are bigger than you and feel like it. And calling a cop racist is subjective in many (not all cases). By that standard engineers are racist too. Try listening vs. talking.

And the way they enforce the law has, at times, been racist. Police have huge amounts of discretion, which is necessary, but there needs to be equal amounts of accountability, and there hasn't been.

And now, holding the police accountable has become a political issue. It shouldn't be. Everyone, including conservatives, should want the police held accountable. But it's easy to fall into the trap of lionizing the police when you are white and not afraid that you will be unjustly arrested or shot.

You are taking cases that you see on TV but there are 1000s of other actions taken by police that are heroic that are barely reported. Everyone not just police need to be accountable. Yelling "no cops" in the same sentence as "no KKK" is equating the police to a vile and hateful cult. Those people who yell that are moronic. Period. No discussion. Are they as bad as the actual KKK? No. Are they still stupid dolts. Yes.
