Discussion of the trade veto. Topic

As long as the almighty greenback rules and WIS allows aliai and collusion and doesn't intervene with even the most obvious cheating, you have to expect it to continue unabated everywhere on the site. Sad but true. If that is not satisfactory to anyone, find a site that runs a cleaner game.

If enough people don't like the trade for any reason, then it should be vetoed. Worlds are free to set their own character. I would agree that more disclosure about the league's character would be good, but it's not anything that's set in stone. Maybe owner opinion profiles would help?

I was against it in the beginning, secret vote and all, but I think it would be a nice update if you could see who, if anyone, vetoed/approved/abstained on all deals. A good commish could see trends(revenge vetoes, non-participation, etc, etc) and deal with it before a problem arises.

If an owner is approving everything that doesn't involve one owner, you'd see it. And you could find out why.

that goes back to my original point. I'd like a better way of identifying which of the varying opinions each world is operating on...

That is impossible. People make decisions based on how they feel, that feeling can change over time. The other factor is you may join a world and 10 seasons down the line only 10 of those original owners will still be in the league.

Sadly, this is very true.

I concur. Unfortunately, it happens, even in "elite" leagues.

I assume I know what you're talking about and it didn't happen. The player in question is still with the team. And, furthermore, I jumped thru friggin' hoops to correct a WifS-created issue just so you'd get your "day in court". Do you really want to act like you were unfairly persecuted?

I see the makings of a good argument...

No, I'm not picking a fight over a dead issue. I am saying that some people vetoed that deal because they thought they could make a better offer. That you threatened to oust anyone who tried to do it after the veto is what makes it an elite league.

People sometimes veto because they think they could "make a better offer". And that's horseshit.

Did you hear what he said about your mother?
11/19/2009 4:03 PM
yeah, but Mike talks a lot of **** so it's prudent for anyone who co-exists with him to ignore 85% of it.

That said, guy is a great commissioner who will do anything to maintain a fair, no-shenanigans world.

"I'm going to pistol-whip the next person that says shenanigans"

Mike will gladly pistol-whip you if he thinks it'll improve a world he commishes.

I would prefer he keep his pistol away from me

Too late. I'm in the closet. Don't open the closet if you don't want it.
