Every time you try to explain how this isn't a vanity post I keep hearing Mark McGuire say he only took steroids because of injuries and it didn't make him hit more home runs.

Who?

I just checked the NL A/S at 2B in seasons 7-12(when he was my full-time 2B). Only one has had a comparable career. 534 HR/.862 OPS(he's actually sitting the bench for me now).

I'm thinking my penchant for resting players early in the season based on how many PA I think they can get might have hurt his A/S appearances.

Every time I see you post in this thread I think "He said he wasn't interested in these types of threads. Why does he keep reading it and commenting? Is he stupid or something?"

Jamey jacks a homer and sits at 1998 hits/399 homers. Two games in the season.

I assume this guys belongs to the HoF. I knwo there are better players with better numbers and more awards but does the end of his career hurt him in anyway. Also does the fact tha he played in Colorado make a differance?

Now, that's just silly. 500+ homers, .333 BA and 1.000+ OPS.
1/15/2010 8:23 AM
Yes, the fact he's played in Colorado does play a role in evaluating the player, in my mind.

Yes, as Mike alluded to, he is clearly a Hall of Famer.
1/15/2010 8:32 AM
Yeah, the thin atmosphere certainly inflated his numbers, but its not like he was playing on the moon. He's just a great player. The season 5 gold glove should be the clincher for anyone reluctant to put him in on the first ballot.
1/15/2010 8:47 AM
Zero stolen bases for his career? He's a scrub.
1/15/2010 8:51 AM
Yeah, you'd think after he got caught stealing the first 6 times, he'd just stop running.
1/15/2010 8:54 AM
well the reason i ask... everyone who has been in the league regards him as product of Co and I can see him not getting the votes to get in.
1/15/2010 9:20 AM
Well, not to be mean, but I'd regard him as a bit of a product of some 'tarded up competition. 75+ homers 4 times, 198+ RBI 4 times and .360+ BA 4 times indicates more than playing in Colorado. After all, he only gets 81 games a year there.
