Just what is this irrational anti-Chauncey jag you're on, scud? Is he so popular you don't want to be seen as late to the party? Grouchy that you weren't the one to unearth that gem? Envious of his chiseled alien good looks?

yep, grouchy, late and envious. whadd'ya expect from a knucklehead tucked away in a saudi desert... camel soup?

but what about his oscar worthy performance in the role of Roger Murdock in Airplane - I should get some credit back for that shouldnt I?

Joey: Wait a minute. I know you. You're Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. You play basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Roger Murdock: I'm sorry son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot.
Joey: You are Kareem. I've seen you play. My dad's got season tickets.
Roger Murdock: I think you should go back to your seat now Joey. Right Clarence?
Captain Oveur: Nahhhhhh, he's not bothering anyone, let him stay here.
Roger Murdock: But just remember, my name is
[showing his nametag] ROGER MURDOCK. I'm an airline pilot.
Joey: I think you're the greatest, but my dad says you don't work hard enough on defense.
[Kareem's getting mad]
Joey: And he says that lots of times, you don't even run down court. And that you don't really try... except during the playoffs.
Roger Murdock: The hell I don't. LISTEN KID. I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.

Hmmm.

point: Oscar
wings:Manu/VC
big men: Wallace

I can still go PF or C with the last pick, and with all the rebounding from my wings/point, I don't necessarily have to have that crazy guy nobody's drafted yet who'll give me 15%/30% (and a lot of baggage like fouls, turnovers, low efg%, etc), buuuuut I still might.

I'm digging the quick turnaround picks... especially when it comes to round 6. I'm going to really like picking 3rd there... with the exception of Oscar, I've drafted lower minute guys than I normally would have, which is good, because I've always drafted the 52-mill like it was a 42-mill and ended up wasting money on extra possessions that I didn't utilize.

Overall, I think I'd feel better if I had gotten one of the 7 guys I like to build a team around, but this was a fun new way of looking at the draft that, maybe, will help me become a more flexible owner instead of building the same paint-dominant/3-point assault that I've been doing practically my entire time at wis.

*ps - I'm not referring to any specific guy about the 15/30 reboudning + high foul/to + low efg thing. There are like 70 guys in this sim do stuff like that.

for the second half of the 3rd round, I gotta give chester my highest grade... red robbins was exactly the kind of guy he needed in there.

I assure you, he would not have made it to you in round 4.

That team is flat out impressive. Now he'll grab his wings... and take flight!

uva scares me with both teams. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that he's uva and does weird crap that makes sense after you see it all in context, but at the beginning, you seem a little confused by. At least, that's how it goes for me. And by context, I mean when he wins 60 games and kicks your *** in a playoff series. The guy builds (and coaches) great teams.

empdenied's team is tight. He's got boards, boards and more boards. He's got an all-time great scorer whose TS% is through the roof... who just happens to have a ridiculously high ast%, which will make picking a pg much easier. If he can get at least one of his guards to be an efficient scoring machine and bring a little of everything else to the table, he's got a fantastic start.

omega's team took a giant leap for me with his 4th round pick. He still needs a lot of scoring, and it's going to have to come from a point guard, which he won't get to pick for around 40 picks, who will, btw, need to have quite a high ast%, but nance brings some major beef to his team, which has a ridiculous(ly good) tov%. I guess I didn't like the Majerle pick (who is, coincidentally, one of my favorite players of all-time).

I don't like darrel walker, but chris_snid's combo has a lot to like. It's wing time... let's see who he grabs.

ps - if/when katern gets some scorers, he has a nice foundation. He should get a few rebounds with that squad...

Ash, thanks for the compliments. Let's see who I can grab three picks from now. . .my nerves are shot.

Oh and you were right to mention me below uva. . .he just destroyed me in the ODL playoffs. Guy's a drafting robot.

Some good teams shaping up. Out of those who've made their 4th pick, I like uva and ash's squads. . .not sure where katernberg is going with his 4 forwards, but by god he has the boards locked down.
1/21/2010 9:54 AM
katernberg seems to be the resident mad scientist of this edition of kfunk. Lovely glass-cleaning, but he'll need a helluva lot of points and assists from the backcourt.

A strength of ash's team at this point is that the only real remaining hole (if I know his drafting strategy by now) will still be a pretty simple one to fill by the time his fifth pick rolls around.

I like the pairing of Kidd and Penny.

chris_snid has some nice pieces but that crew is crying out for another scorer.

vancem has an exceedingly old school, hospital-corners kind of squad, with Shaq as the resident jokester. I'm pretty sure I'll want to bring them home to meet my mother (although I'll force Walton to pop an Altoid on the way in the door).

I'm starting to worry about my bunch already. I'm a sucker for rebounding, but I'm not sure about the Howard/Nater marriage.

Vancem has a very efficient squad, but the Big Ginger doesn't have many minutes, and I'd like to see another scorer aside from Shaq.
