Im with 57...imo-league rules should be set before reg begins, unless it is something officially up for vote
I'm good either way...just my two cents!
cap was originally $52M.  I built my team for $52M and now the cap changes.  It's very aggravating.

I'll jump in with Orlando Woolridge
That is a beast pick....Starting lineup of Magic, MJ, Rodman, Moses, and Kareem....SICK...I almost did this one
yeah, but you have to play woolridge too, lol
See, this is what I'm talking about:  Waaaay too much usage.  You won't be getting the most out of any of those four scorers with all four on the floor together.  Kareem hurts that squad.

Usage isn't as high as you might think with this team....remember Rodman's killer season is 11.1 usage

"no offense, heel, but any team featuring Pippen in it with the current engine doesn't get my vote for a very good team, no matter what the cap.  Unless you're using a low-minute season of him and not really important in the rotation.  Then I'm merely 'meh' about it."

I think Pippen is pretty underrated at the moment. He can defend 1-4 w/ a defense around 90 for most of his seasons (obv this is less important at 57 mil cap, when everyone has high def).

94-95 Pippen has 26% usg, 52% efg, 6/17% reb, 17% ast, 3.5% stl, 96 defense. He's not LeBron, but that's not very far away from the king's production either. Of course that version is only 94% at PG, but can play SG at 100%. Outside of LeBron and his teammate Jordan, who else brings that overall talent package? He's right there with the best Magics in everything but ast%, which isn't hugely important right now anyway.  And if you want a more efficient version, 96-97 has better efg%, lower fouls and turnovers, but sacrifices some rebounding and a little usage in the deal.

So what's not to like?

team ceballos is gonna be tough to beat.......kidd/magic/rodman/barkley/shaq with junkyard/house off the bench...efg% and rebounds are off the charts
1/18/2011 6:51 PM
the pg options were nuts...had magic, kidd, nash, kj, and barros

I think my AC Green team is going to be alot of fun as will my Nevitt team...the main difference is Kobe vs. MJ

It's exactly as high as I think it is.  Any MJ he uses is going to be 30+.  Moses' best season is 23.4.  Magic's best years all go between 22 and 25, though there are a couple of really good ones at 20.  Kareem is the killer... MJ, Moses and any of those Magics and you're golden.  But add in low FTA Kareem and bleh.

26% usage with how many ftas?  440?  After pace normalization that = yuck.  Pippen suffers from the same problem as many Bird seasons (except Bird is so good at so many other things that he's still almost worth it).  If his usage was down around 18-20%, then I'd say he was a top-notch choice.  But at 26%, you end up nerfing your offensive potential by taking away too many possessions from your big time FTA machines.

Basically, to answer your "Outside of..." question:  Mike Miller.

well, we'll see - I think a Jordan/Pippen/Rodman/Barkley/Gilmore squad can more than hold its own in this league, at least at 57. Probably at 52 as well, just would have to tinker things a bit.
1/18/2011 7:21 PM
Pippen nerfs both Jordan & Barkley... but that is an absolute sick frontcourt.  I actually think you'd be better off with Steve Kerr than Pippen in that starting line-up, though.
1/18/2011 7:23 PM
ha, well I have a guard much better than Kerr to move into the starting lineup, but it's possible, although my rebounding in the starting lineup would take a little hit.

I mean, at what point do you have too much usage in the lineup? I always thought that around 110% was ideal, and w/ Pip in the starting lineup it's around 112 or so. Not a whole lot of wasted usage there.
1/18/2011 7:26 PM
there's also the 90-91 Pip, at 52% efg and 21% usg, 6/15 rebounding, 18 ast, 2.8 stl. anyway bottom line I just think Pippen is underutilized and underrated by a lot of owners in the SIM. Of course this is in part related to him absolutely dominating for me in the HDP league, although progressives are always a different animal (and it helps that he plays with Kemp/Rodman/Payton, lol)

Thanks for being patient everyone.  I think it is good to get feedback as a league materializes.  Final answer, 54 mil cap.

I know I was really leaning toward 52, but the top post always read "may bump it up to 57".  So now that I'm done waffling, I look forward to the league.  I am amazed at how many ways there are to go.  Pretty much endless possibilities-
