i agree with isack.  and i think it's probably right.  and here's why i think there are fewer than normal:  last season was the first season sims started trying to fill their entire rosters (i.e. not taking walk-ons).  thus fewer openings this season.

but i think it's dumb to base quantity of recruits on the number of openings IF quantity also affects quality.  (that is if fewer total recruits cause the top 100 to be worse). why should it? that would never happen in real life.  recruits should be on average the same quantity and quality every year.  variance is appropriate, but correlating deviation with need is not.
this is not true. sims have been trying to fill their entire rosters for quite some time now.
has it been 4 seasons?

Anecdotally speaking, there are 3 simmys in my Tark conference that had 0 schollys to give this year.

I think you need to ask how many scholarships are needed by humans.  With approx. 70% sims, it would suggest only 800 players are needed by humans.  Seems like there are plenty of recruits.  You guys are making it sound like you're wearing milkbone underwear in a dog eat dog world.

So it's slightly less of a draft than what coaches are used to, but it's not even close to the competition it'd be with 100% humans (or even 70%).
what the game *should* look like has nothing to do with this thread. obviously you are welcome to your opinion, but i am registering any opinion on that subject, so "you guys are making it sound like..." doesn't make sense in this context.

if it were 100% humans i would imagine they would rework a few things

The thing is rails, at the highest levels D1 it's pretty close to 100% humans so there is a ton of competition for the best recruits. And if because there are less recruits created there are less high quality recruits it makes competition even tougher and forces somebody like me in a weak location who has an A- prestige reach down and grab guys who would normally go to a mid major. Now mid majors have to go after weaker recruits and so on and so on.
THIS!

just to follow up on this... tark has 3172 recruits this year. taking that down 15%, to expected number of scholarships, we are at 2758 spots. over 984 schools, thats 2.8 scholarships a team, after just under 2.7 scholarships per team last season.

i think its cute that apparently tark has a very small number of open scholarships two seasons in a row. one would think that would be, well, extremely unlikely. with the number of sims increasing substantially compared to about 6 months ago, you would expect 1) fewer redshirts and 2) more walkons. resulting in MORE players. not less. so i remain skeptical. i suppose in a few days when the new recruits come out, we will have a better idea. one more sub-3 scholarship per team season, and its fairly insane to claim nothing is wrong. unless for some reason everybody in tark just randomly has 5 man classes at the exact same time. all 984 schools. very believable, no doubt!!

Does this mean I shouldn't re-up in Tark and should I switch leagues?
