WIS MOCK DRAFT TOURNEY BRACKET

The cool thing about that is the site allows people to make predicitons. So we could have everyone fill out a tourney sheet, set a deadline (I put september 1 for now but I can move it). Then we can assign points to each round like
1 pt  for rd 1 win
2 pts for rd 2 win
4 pts for rd 3 win
8 pts for championship game win
maybe 2 pts for winning the 3rd place game.

Then once everyone has predicted we just add up the scores and we have a champion.

That's exactly what we need logain, awesome!

The only downside is everyone has to register on that site in order to make predictions. But its very quick and easy. I had been toying with the idea of doing an all-time team bracket tournament.. similar to what I did for hockey years ago.

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?tid=142980&tclass=

I got 28 people to sign up for that.. and then simmed the games in simmatchup and filled out the tournament.

Personally, I was looking at it as the 5 guys I would want to build a dynastic championship run with over 5-10 years.
Exactly logain, you hit the nail on the head!

But again, are we talking 5 or 10 years?  Big difference in terms of who you can consider.  Some of today's superstuds haven't played ten years, and some all-time greats didn't have decade-long primes.

There are actually many ways to go here.  At least 5 guys.  I'll have to go with the silent assassin type who just makes his teams better.  You need a big that can score if you want to go against the other top bigs of all time.

Tim Duncan

Maybe the long-time fat, lazy version of Shaq has erased my memory of his earlier athletic days, but I still think people comparing him to Wilt, either athletically or as a player, are way off base.  Could / should he have become as dominant?  Probably.  Did he?  Not even close.

Comparing all the stiff "Centers" Shaq played against to the guys Wilt played against is even another argument.
It's a 5 on 5 game though.  The other 4 guys in Wilt's early days were nowhere near the Horrys, Drexlers, Jordans, Barkleys, Pippens, etc. that Shaq dealth with.  He faced Duncan and Robinson at the same time and won more than lost.  Look at Karl Malone-an offensive game rivaling Wilt's and he never won a ring because of his era.

Shaq and Duncan were two of the four I hoped would fall.....no dice so far

yeah I don't really see them every dropping that far. Any list of the top nba players you find has them in the top 10. That being said, most of those nba lists don't consider ABA stats.. and we are free to do that. So I could see some guys jumping up here pretty soon

I'm going to be holding a press conference televised by ESPN tonight to announce my choice.  I think I'll call it "The Decision"  .  .  .

Loving all the picks and the discussion so far.  I thought Duncan would be an underappreciated talent in this draft.  I would take him in a heart beat to build a team around.  He is super consistent, superbly skilled around the basket, a quiet winner/leader, and someone who I have always felt sacrifices his numbers for the sake of the team's results.

Now on to my selection:  Clearly not a favorite of mine in the world of SIM over the years, but this is not SIM.  He is certainly one of the best at his position ever, and one who was well ahead of his time, and is on most everyone's list of top 10 players ever, so being I am the last pick in the top ten, I have to include him there.  The only man to average a triple double for a season (and by the way only missed a second triple double season by 0.1 rb)

ha ha nobody likes Shaq on this site except dh
Shaq's actually one of my all-time favorite players.  And disappointments.  He's my favorite disappointment!  Haha!

5 NBA Titles
13 All-Star Selections
League MVP
4x All-Star Game MVP
2x Finals MVP

3rd all-time in playoff points
6th all-time in regular season points

"The Black Mamba"

Kobe Bryant

I was surprised to see Kobe drop this far. Admittedly, he maybe isn't the greatest team player, and his reputation for "clutchness" is a bit overrated. Still, he has a desire and will to win I've only seen topped by MJ. Great jump shooter, great slasher, excellent defender, winner.

There are some off the court issues of course but since everyone but my wife seems to have forgotten about those.. I'll draft him anyway.

"The only man to average a triple double for a season (and by the way only missed a second triple double season by 0.1 rb)"

Actually, over a 5 year span he did average a triple double... it's just breaking it down into the individual seasons where you don't see it.  Or so I heard... I haven't ever done the math myself.
