17 in a row- now 96-40! When will it end? LOL. 24 game lead and now hope for no collapse. This wasn't the team of mine that I thought would be my best. The ones I thought would do well are not.

I have one team that should advance to the second round and I am hoping for a draft pick between 5 and 9, actually rooting for a later, rather than earlier pick. But if I could get the 1st pick I know I would have the best pitching or best hitting in the league. But some of the staffs and lineups are really bad. Can top flight pitching win with a truly awful offense?

With 138 games played and with only 24 games left to go in the regular season, here's a sobering fact...

Out of the 480 teams in Round 1, 316 of those teams are still within 8 games of earning a playoff spot in their respective division/league - whether it be the Division lead or the wildcard spot.  That's just about two/thirds of all teams still within shouting distance of the post-season.  Granted, eight games out would be quite a climb up the ladder with only 24 games left, but it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.  Teams farther out than that could actually still make a run - I just had to make the cut-off point somewhere.

Leagues 10 and 11 are the tightest of the bunch with 19 of their respective 24 teams still within eight games of a post-season spot.  Leagues 3, 4, 7, 12 and 20 are the leagues with the most teams beyond eight games with only 14 of their 24 teams still within eight games.

There are some unimpressive numbers in some of these leagues. Out of 17 leagues listed, 7 of them are being led by a team that does not have a winning record. Sure, those divisions are almost guaranteed to have a close race, but this raises a question: will the round 2 seeding be based entirely on W-L records, or will the division winners get the top seeds, followed by WC teams and the at large teams?

15 Games To Go - And Down The Stretch They Come!

Congratulations to COLED, BEV148, AUGGIEWARD and DEWELCH71 for being the first four owners to have teams clinch a Division Title.  AUGGIEWARD has done it twice and DEWELCH71 has done it three times!  Other than that, the other 113 Divisions will all be settled within the last fifteen games of the season.

Eight games to go and we only know the Division Winner in 33 of the 120 Divisions in Round One.  A lot of races coming down to the wire...
