That is true.  FL has two redeeming qualities:  Great beaches and nice weather, and that's it.  I will take New England over FL any day of the week (except in February and March).  PS I am also from the NH seacoast (just an hour north of Boston), so I am a little biased.

PS  Tampa isn't all that bad, great hockey stadium, great museums, and generally a nice place if you hug the coast (just like most of FL).
