let's see in the upper caps, (100,110, and 120)  I am 40-20.      in the lower caps (70,80,and 90)  I am 21-39.     I am not sure what I was doing when I made up the lower caps.

I've had teams get socked with the opposing team's mop-ups coming in after a brief appearance by maybe 1-3 pitchers, then throwing a great number of pitches at total fatigue. Apparently, when an owner sets all other pitchers to rest except for the next starter, it disallows the injury failsafe that prevents such a run, so the mop-up pitches till the end of the game.

Consequently, I have one team in which utterly no batters are at 100% rest.

I think due to the heightened competitiveness and stakes of a tournament such as this, there should probably be minimum IP/162 requirements.

Since WIS caps batters at 6 PA per game when calculating fatigue, perhaps the real issue is that you haven't drafted enough PA.  Maybe there ought to be a minimum PA/162 requirement instead?

I'm not so sure that kicked in, contrarian23. Appreciate your consistency with your monicker though (smile, wink).

Actually, I'd be fine with minimum PA/162, too. We know there are some ways to take just a bit of advantage of lack of big penalties for some batter fatigue. I didn't mention it because pitcher fatigue consequences are much more severe.

BTW, it seems we've just passed the sort-of morning rush hour in pitching availability traffic. From what I've seen it often gets tight again for some teams toward the very end. But I hope the highway is getting a lot clearer for our contestants now. I think it's a good idea to politely call out owners who purposely extend their mop-ups, injury-proofed.  I also think that when someone has to use their mop-ups extensively, it's good form for him to notify his opponent.

Meh...calling out anyone for using an incredibly common SLB strategy seems silly.

I have no problem when it happens against me, and I have no problem using the strategy myself when needed.  A few early extra-inning games, or a run of games against opponents with high-offense parks, and your entire staff can easily be fatigued even if you have drafted a reasonable number of innings.

When that happens you have two choices: play fatigued, and risk falling into the death spiral because tired pitchers give up more hits and walks, so have to throw even more pitches, etc.  Or kill your mopups for a game or two to let everyone else get rested.  Easy choice, and also far better for the league (IMO) and therefore better sportsmanship, to have your team get rested as quickly as possible.

I'm all for burning up mop-ups to a degree in that case, C23 (and I've done it once in this tournament) but not injury-proofed, unless it's absolutely necessary. I appreciate your reminder about the 6 PA cap and I hope it's working. But, especially when doing the pitcher, pitcher, injury-proofed mop-up, I think good sportsmanship calls for a warning. And I could easily see it being tempting for owners to sort of gang-up on one or two of their fellow contestants, with our without any conferring. I don't think it's likely with this group, but especially from the kinds of things I've seen in Hardball Dynasty, I think it's possible.

Also, the 6 PA cap still allows quite a large tax on batters, considering substitutes also being hit.

Well, we are 1/6 of the way home. Surprisingly, I am at 90-72 after 27 GP for each of the 6 teams. Am experiencing pitching staff fatigue at the three lowest caps but hoping to work through it. If we are not able to, we could be in trouble.

It looks like I will need to start recruiting commissioners to run the Round 2 leagues.  After my most recent 0-6, we're now 6 games below .500.  My Chipper Jones team started 9-3.  They've gone 1-16 since.

I guess I better start coming up with themes for the Round 2 leagues.

Contrary to RL, it's not even Summer yet schwarze...!

BTW, I hope there can be a live draft at least for a few picks in some theme...

There are typically two live drafts - one short draft, and one longer draft.

I take a 6 hour car trip. Arrive at Starbucks to see how "well" my boys did. 1-11. I need a drink, not a coffee.

MY FIRST SCHWARZE!!!!!  August 14, 2015 PM session.

May the Schwarze be with me....  always.

Got a schwarze today in PM2, with three wins by shutout, no less. I may be toast already (in four leagues, at least), but today there was cinnamon and butter.

I don't usually sound off because I rarely play SLB. So I have little expectation of winning. The cage should be attainable with a sound baseball mind and a little luck, even with less experience. But the showing so far this year is nothing short of embarrassing! I will be better next year.
