if range is a function of the number of chances in the field, doesnt that mean that fielders that played for a team with lots of strikeout pitchers are "worse" fielders, as they would have fewer total batted balls in play?

i remember a year where Darryl Strawberry lead the league in putouts (or was close to it) because the great met pitching staff would induce right handed hitters to hit weak flys to right.
