Amazing. My guy dropped to me. Bill Bernhard SP. Now lets hope I get to use him this year or this was a huge mistake.
How would you not be able to use him?
stubrosil, probably you ask because Bernhard DOES have innings in every season from 1899-1903, so there is really no risk of The_Creeper not being able to use him.
But just in case you did not mean that, remember that each player's actual season year for us each League Season will be determined by a random table draw in which there is only a 40% chance that that player's season year will be the same year as the season we are playing in the League.
A lot of these players did not play in 1899 or 1900 because 1901 was their rookie year or for other reasons, and many did not play in 1902 or 03 because they retired after 1901 or 02 or for other reasons.
So there is a considerable chance (20% for the seasons just before and just after the one we are playing, 10% for the ones two years before or two years after that one we are playing at any given time) that the player will be in another season and in some cases that will mean for our purposes that they were out injured for the whole season. That is the reason, I assume for contrarian23 providing us with 33 man rosters, not 25.
If you already knew this I apologize for beating a dead horse but in that case you are quite right, in Bernhard's case he DOES have pretty good innings in every season in that five-year period. So The_Creeper has nothing to worry about except WHICH of those five seasons he will get from Bernhard.
When we get to 1915-1919, and World War One, these issues will become BIG ! and of course bigger for WWII years. It is possible that Ted Williams will repeat his 1941 .406 year from 1939-1943 throughout, of that he won't even be available from 1940-1947. No way to know ahead of time. The brilliance and originality of this league.
