Howard is the guy I assumed was next on dh and ash's boards. I almost picked him. I may regret not picking him; you're locking in great efficiency, good to great defense, and elite boards for every season. The thing that kept me from picking him was the relatively high fouls and pretty high turnovers, especially for the seasons where his usage dips a little lower. Plus no assists, in a league where that may be harder to come by. Still probably a "safer" pick than Durant.
The turnovers are the killer but he is otherwise great. I think Durant was the better pick.

There's one more guy I had in my second tier of available players - after him I think it gets really interesting and people could go in a lot of different directions

Can’t believe I really just drafted James Harden but he ranked out as the best available player on my board. He has 5+ great seasons and I don’t have to worry about 3s or usage for any of my teams now...bear with me, trying to convince myself I didn’t massively F up

I could never bring myself to use prime Harden. He's been pretty successful with an undrafted forward, but that's about it

I pretty much always have him on my “do not draft” list in standard drafts, but in this capless, 5 season format, he ranked out pretty high to me. We’ll see if my grading method was right or not I guess.

I think the two best value picks so far are Shaq #4 and Bird #14.

Deandre is a solid pick too - I would usually rather have high-usage guys early on, but I think he's easily the best of the low-usage board lords in this format.

Yea I had him as the top lower usg option after Stockton. I think he went right about where he should have went.

It’ll be interesting to see what higher usg options are available to pair with him. Could work out really well.

Agreed

BIrd has 5 36+ min seasons that give you so much. I had him right after Durant and Barkley as 2/3 options

Out of the guys I thought might be available I was hoping for Barkley. Bird was next. After that, It would have been hard for me to choose. A list of names with Harden being on that list

The Bird pick was influenced by the info Ben shared in his ODL trivia contest.
