All four played with their brothers as Cardinals, all pitchers except Walker Cooper, catcher on the 1942-44 N.L. championship teams. Brothers Paul Dean, Von McDaniel and Alan Benes were basically one- or two-year wonders. Dizzy and Paul Dean led the Gas House Gang to the 1934 World Series title after combining for 49 wins in the regular season. Andy and Alan Benes helped Larussa win the N.L. East in his first StL season (only to lose a close LCS to Atlanta). Lindy and 18-year-old Von McDaniel led StL to a second place finish in 1957 for ill-fated manager Fred Hutchinson.
