Decade Draft League 444 (15/16 to 24/25) Topic

OK guys, taking a break to pause Game 1 on DVR to respond....

The 3 hour rule is in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM. In thinking about it and amending my reply from yesterday....if a pick comes in at 9:59 pm, the next owner CAN be skipped at 12:59 am (if the following owner is still up). If a pick comes in at 10 pm or later, he can't be skipped until 1 pm. So in this case, I believe it's 20ks who can be skipped tonight.

Mixed results from my experiment. We WOULD be doing great, if not for the three hour wait and cem and 20ks skips. If both of them pick in a reasonable time, we are in the middle of the 3rd round at least. Right now, we are behind the pace of a normal DDL clocked draft. See what only TWO owners can do? If they had sent proxy lists to at least three other owners, I'm sure one of those owners would have posted their pick for them within 3 hours. If 22 owners can do this, why not 24? What do we need to do guys? cem, you gave me your cell #. STILL didn't work. It is late in round 2, with 5 picks left and I am about to do my proxy list for my 3rd round pick, which is in NINETEEN picks!!! How hard is it to do that if you know you will be busy like I do tomorrow? If you can't send a proxxy list and you can't be reached by phone for a reminder text....then honestly, you SHOULDN'T be drafting in a league like this. OK, stepping down from my soapbox...

amerk, the 3 hour skip rule (in place of a 24 hour skip rule) only works if we are ahead of the draft and want to ensure we stay ahead of the draft. If we're behind in the draft, then the normal 30 min schedule works best because the tardy owner would simply be skipped when the next 30 min time slot came up. Seems to me the best solution is to KEEP the 30 min draft schedule, and then ALSO have a 3 hour skip rule instead of the 24 hour skip rule. That way we can never be "behind" in the draft schedule, but if we're ahead in the draft we won't have to wait more than 3 hours. The 30 min schedule is important because it provides structure. Just my 2 cents.

Sent a proxy but they were taken:

Jalen Duren
6/6/2025 7:27 AM
Jrue Holiday
6/6/2025 7:36 AM
Pascal Siakam
6/6/2025 7:49 AM
So I guess i don't understand the rule.

And losing Holmgren because of it sucks

If I can't make my pick in a 3 hour window and I haven't sent out a proxy then that means that I am ok with being skipped. No big deal, I will pick when I can.

One thing I do is I try to make sure every commissioner has my cell #. That way I can be texted if needed.

Hey, the 3 hour skip rule may or may not work. It’s something the Commish wanted to try. Everybody needs to just make their pick, send a proxy, or make their back pick when they can.

A few seasons ago, when we were doing 1955 to 1975, I picked a player in the 4th round whose best season was 1953. I wasn’t paying attention to the rule. I figured it out in the 9th round, made some adjustments with my last few picks and ended up winning. I ended up picking a few players at the end that I wouldn’t have ever picked and it ended up being a silver lining.
