The 24 Rules League - Full (again) Topic

Three left hopefully that last ones are not more complicated. 1st team just missing three and working on 2nd team.

If by some miracle I satisfy all rules with less than 23 players, can I then draft whoever I wish?

Believe me, you are not the only one looking for overlaps. I 'm inclined to say "yes", however, I need to consult with the 2 gentlemen who share the same 1st name.

2 teams, 2 rules... Let's hear it for #2

Between 2005-06 & 2024-2025 seasons only, select a player that finished 2nd in voting for:
Rule 1: Frank J Selke Trophy
Rule 2: James Norris Memorial Trophy

You must use the year they finished second in voting (no twisting) and your Selke player MUST play on your #1 PK Unit and your Norris player MUST play on your #1 PP Unit
Posted rule states "from" 2005-06 and 2024-25...Beeb's post states "between" 05-06 and 2024-25
I need clarification.

MIKE: I hate to say this, but this is just too much for my head

I have to decline this one

I hate to hear that, but expected and understood.

If anyone knows a brave soul who might be interested in joining, please contact them. Still waiting for Nick to read his sitemail, and there are a few others I sitemiled when I placed the ad, who are in the same boat. I would hate to see this die,

Yes. That is correct. Once you satisfy the 24 rules, you can draft anyone you want ( other than excluded player- Mario and Wayne)

Between. So, 1 runner-up for the Selke from any season from 2005-06 through 2024-25, but you must use that season in which your he finished 2nd in voting. for example: 2018-19, Mark Stone came in second for the Selke. You can select him but must use that season. He must also play on your top PK Unit

Same for Norris. Example: 2007-08, Dion Phaneuf came in second for the Norris. You can select him, but must you that season. He must also play on your top PP unit.

Use the follow: List of all the NHL & WHA Awards and Honors | Hockey-Reference.com as your reference point. You can search by Award then year from here.

Does that mean head coach or that will also include associate coaching?

Head Coach

This sounds fun! I'll take the last two spots here.

RULE 1: You must draft at least one player, of any position, who wore EITHER #16 for the Vancouver Canucks, #24 for the Pittsburgh Penguins, or #29 for the Boston Bruins. The player must have worn the number for more than one season. Twisting is ok - the season you draft of theirs doesn't have to be for the team mentioned, and they don't have to have worn the number in the season you draft. (you can find a list of all the players who wore a number for any team at hockey-reference.com)

RULE 2: If you manage to fill all the rule requirements and have roster spot(s) left over, you must fill the first two spots in this order: 1. Gino Odjick; 2. Chris Simon.

See my comment above (page 1). Your 2nd rule is more of a penalty to owners who can draft and create open roster spots- and limits the choice to 2 specific players. I’ll defer to the ancient one on whether it is permissible.
7/26/2025 12:47 AM
Ah, I just realized that doesn't work either, because it would apply to more than three players. I'll figure something else out and post it shortly.
